Interviewed Apr 2011 in Corpus Christi, TX (took a day)
Applied online Wed, they called, passed my name to the hiring mgr and made an appt for Fri. Adding my resume is what really helped. But seeing everything in person; it just didn't appear like a...responsible workplace. I took a copy of the application and resume to the interview.

Reason for Declining
The very young guy interviewing me was late, still getting himself together while he was talking to me. I thought I was applying for a call center type job or some kind of customer service; he made it sound like I'd be going door to door selling contracts to customers. I'm not impressed by TXU's company at all so I didn't mind the idea of helping their customers over the phone but luring them into a bad deal wasn't for me. It felt like they just needed to fill a void. Seemed to assume that if I was referred to him then everything was a go. Offered me the job that day then when I told him I was working he was stunned, took awhile to recover and asked where I currently worked at. Which means he didn't read my app or resume (which were in his hands and he pretended to scan the entire time I was there) and didn't listen to the answers I gave for his very basic interview questions. That's the only reason I felt like this job must be bad if only ppl who are jobless apply there.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 5 weeks)
Initial phone screen by recruiter. Invited in for intial interviews with 3 people (one was hiring manager.) Not a lot of detail given prior to the interview as to who I would be interviewing with. Offices are beautiful, everyone seemed very happy and dedicated to the company and to their customers. Second round of interviews scheduled fairly quickly (less than two weeks.) Met with 5 people, asked to give impromptu presentation. Job offer followed after that. Once job offer letter is signed, then background check, reference check and drug test are requested. all of these are done by third party (including reference check--also online.)

Negotiation Details
To me the job is much more important than the salary. I was clear early on where my current salary was and what my requirement was. However, I did not negotiate from the actual offer because they were where I needed to be. Pay attention to the environment, the people, and make the decision on that rather than a few thousand dollars. People leave jobs mostly because of their manager, so that should match your reason for taking a job.

Interviewed Dec 2009 (took 2 days)
This was an internal interview that consisted of two parts. The first part was a meeting with the managers of the department and the second part was a group interview with the existing team. This environment is extremely political and only people that have the "in" with others typically climb the ladder. It's extremely difficult to reach anytype of management position if you are female and younger than 40 regardless of education or experience.
