Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 3 days)
Prescreening over the phone included conversation with non-technical recruiter seeking to get a feel for my comfort level on a contract position they were looking to place me in. They checked if I was comfortable with the location and hours. They provided vague answers regarding the actual work like, " this is something youllmfind challenging and exciting." 1:1 interview was scheduled. The 1:1 interview was actually a 2:1. About 30 with a same person from the phone. All about personality and validity of the resume. Give opportunity for me to explain why i am interested and asked about my current job. The second person was a technical person with 20'years experience who opens up with very basic technical questions. What the difference between a soft link / hard link? Tell me how to setup a DNS server. Looked at my resume and pointed to certain things like veritas and asked me what are the commands to do certain things. Allow presented scenario based questions to see how i think. Asked to expand on previous technical experience indepth. You can sense when they smile that you are hitting certain points that they are looking for. The tech interview was roughly 3 hours. Sent home after tech interview and told to expect call in evening.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Felt over qualified for the position they had in mind. Got no solid answer on the length of the project. Not sure but it Seemed like they had someone willing to do the work for less so not much room for negotiating more favorable pay.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a 1:1 Interview.
