Interviewed Jun 2011 in Charlotte, NC (took a day)
Applied online and I got a call the next day to set up the interview. I arrived at the store and I was told to go to a computer and I had to take answer 20 questions what would you do in different situations. I was then called in and interviewed by a young guy who made some small talk and then asked me questions right out of a target booklet. He was friendly and after writing down everything told me that I would then be interviewed by another person. They then had me wait about 20 minutes before a young lady approached me and told me she ran the whole front end and asked me to follow her to the cafe since no offices were available. She didn't look too happy and she had another guy with her who she told me was learning how to interview people so he would be sitting in. There was no small talk she just went right into reading questions from another booklet. The questions were nothing I didn't expect after reading this site. Prior to her starting to read the questions she did say if I had a question about a question feel free to ask. When she did read one I wasn't quite sure about I asked her about the question and she just read the same question over again with a real attitude. I knew right there I wasn't getting the job, plus there was no way I was going to work for her if she did offer me the job. The best was when she asked me how much experience did I have for the position I was applying for. I almost laughed since I was applying for a cart attendant position. So since I knew there was no way I was going to work for her my answer was " I have zero experience, but I didn't think I needed any to push carts and clean bathrooms." I think I took her by surprise with my answer since she got a funny look on her face. I guess she got it that at this point we were all just wasting each others time. One more question after that and then she said thanks for applying and she said she would have to give this to HR for them to look over. Again I have been around awhile and I know a blow off when I see one. I really wanted to say, yea I'll be waiting by the phone but I guess my work related experiences in life kicked in and I just said thanks and left on a civil note.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Moorpark, CA (took 1 week)
I was looking for employment in June of last year and I really did not have high expectations of my next job. I then walked into Target and asked to speak to the manager about jobs in their store. They seemed interested so I went home to apply online. The application was pretty standard. It included a Personality Test and some basic background history about my former jobs and educational experiences. I was called later that week and I got the job after the second interview.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in El Paso, TX (took 2 days)
So I applied cart boy I was still in High school at the time with a 3.7 gpa. I had one interview which they had me wait like 20min after they should have. It didint go to bad the guy was friendly and cool it was my first interview ever. I felt I answered fairly well. So he asked me to go again tomorrow for the second half. This time it was a girl and I felt pretty confident I would get the job. Afterwards she said" how old are you""17"" since your not 18 you would have to leave before 10 since thats the law" Obviously thats probably why I didint get hired. Months later after turning 18 I got a better job with another company im glad now I wasnt hired.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
They kept me waiting for two hours before they actually interviewed me. Two hours after the agreed upon time. The interview was also unnecessarily long and complicated for a job pushing carts around. There were a lot of those "Tell me about a time when you had X problem at your job, and how you solved it" type of questions. The process consisted of two different interviews with two different people. The first women who interviewed me was the one that called me to schedule the interview. She asked me a lot of the same questions that we already went over on the phone. The second person asked me if I had any questions and seemed really annoyed when I actually asked some. Actually both of the interviewers seemed pretty cranky and annoyed to be talking to me at all. I decided I did not want the job in the first couple of minutes. Everything about the experience made it seem like Target would be a miserable place to work.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Minneapolis, MN (took a day)
Applied online on a Sunday. By Wednesday afternoon rec'd call for interview on Friday. When I arrived on Friday, they had me take "behavior" test. Interviewed 1:1, with 2 people. Basic questions (in no particular order) : 1) Why do you want to work at Target? 2) Why are you leaving your present job? 3) In what areas do you need improvemetn? 4) Without supvr's direction, describe a time when you helped someone on your own? 5) Have you ever disagreed with your boss? If so, what was the disagreement and how did you handle it? 6) How did you handle a position where a co-worker was not pulling their weight? 7) In the next 60 days will you need time off for a vacation, etc? 8) How did you turn a bad situation into a good situation? The whole process was exactly 45 minutes. I was told "If you don't hear from us by Tuesday, give us a call. Truthfully, I made the mistake of telling them "I needed 5 days off to drive my mother from Arizona. I do this every spring." I found out that during the 90 probation period Target REALLY frowns on tardiness or missed work. Advice? CLEAR YOUR CALENDAR for Target if you really, really want the job. I'll post again with the result next week. All the best... Stay calm, stay positive...

Interviewed Mar 2009 in Naperville, IL (took a day)
Must apply on line in the store on their PC. While working on questions one of the leaders of the day came out and just looked at me, once finished, another came out and asked me to wait as they were going to review my application. After about 1/2 hour I was called in and asked a series of questions all revolving around availability. I later learned one had to be available for closing at least one night on weekend, Fri, Sat or Sunday, plus one other night during week. This seems to change as the number of applicants change. I also learned later that if this interviewer likes you they have you wait for another interview to determine what you really want to do and your exact qualifications. Always looking for Cashiers.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took 2 weeks)
I had to go to Target multiple times. The first time was to apply. I got a call saying my application was accepted. So I went to Target again, all they did was tell me when my interview was going to be. So then I went again for the first part of the interview. Then I went back again for the second part of the interview. Then I went back again to give them the drug test results. Then I went back again for the orientation. Thats 5 times after I sent my app in.
