Interviewed Apr 2011 in Dearborn, MI (took 4 weeks)
I received a phone screening and was told that I would have 4 more interviews. My first was a phone interview with a local HR rep, which was behavioral based. The second was with a Store Leader which was behavioral based. The third was with a District Team Leader, which was behavioral based. All of which I received praise for doing a great job in the interview process and was told by both the district team leader and store team leader, that they were hoping that I make it through because they couldnt wait to have me on their team. Then I proceeded to the last interview which was with the Regional Team Leader and the Regional HR Leader. I was told prior that this was going to be a behavioral based interview....but it was not! It was more of a conversation and I am not sure how they were able to fully evaluate me based on some of the vague questions they asked. They never once even opened the interview packet that they had. I have to assume that they had made their mind up well before i even walked through the door. I did not get the offer....not sure why, when everyone else before was talking like they wanted me and wanted me soon. The only reason I can think of is the compensation that they would have had to offer was well over what they could have paid others. I have an MBA and previous experience, so I was asking for at least 80k. Whereas they could hire someone else right out of college to do the same thing for much much less. Although the expectation was that I would advance much faster.
The process was thorough, and besides the outcome, I was very please with Target as a whole.
If I had to give advice to others, it would be to actually write down all of your most positive and high performing experiences that you have. That way you can say them quickly, directly to the point, and seem stellar!

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Canton, MI (took 2 weeks)
I applied for this position at the school. I was called for the first interview, it went well. I received email from the District adm. that I have been selected for the next round of the interview. I went for the second interview, I believed I did much better than the first interview. one week later I received email saying that they are going to consider other candidate. I believe my Master degree couple with my accent got something to do with it not being hire. They probably thick that it will be economical to hire young new grad and offer him/her 38,000 as compare to someone with Master degree.
Sincerely, I wanted to develop my career at Target and possibly retire from the company. It hurts really bad, I believe God will make another way. I still love Target regardless and I thank them for the opportunity.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Canton, MI (took 2 days)
I was called and given a phone interview. I was then emailed a link to complete a personality test. I was then called back to schedule a 1:1.
The 1:1 interview was held in a small office with no windows. I interviewed with two store managers, then with two regional managers. There were no questions about previous work experience, only questions about what I've done in certain situations. There was no way to speak about how you would help the company or how your skills would transfer.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Troy, MI (took 2 weeks)
The first interview was very casual and easy questions.... "What do you do if a member in a group you work with is not pulling his or her weight" "Why do you feel Target is a good fit for you" etc.
I was asked for a second interview, but before the second interview the staff at the nearest Target store took all of the people applying for the position on a ALL store orientation. Discussed the job during the interview and showed us around the store and how it functions.
The Second interview included much more advanced questions. One that really got me was "Describe a time when you were asked to mediate two individuals. How did you mediate them and what was the outcome?"
Be prepared for very very specific questions that you may have to make up an answer for!

Interviewed Sep 2008 in Allen Park, MI (took 2 days)
I applied at a target kiosk, a couple of days later they called me in for an morning interview. The interview was more laid back than others. The usual (why do you want to work here?), (describe a time when..) kind of questions. Done in about 10min, 3 hours later got called back in for another 10min interview with a supervisor and was offered the job. Background check took a week, then I had to come in to talk with the manager, then a drug test a couple days later. Overall a 2 week process.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Detroit, MI (took 2 days)
I was referred by another employee. Going in, basic background questions about work and education were asked. Then, 5 behavioral questions were asked. After sending me on to the next round of interviews the interviewee gave me positive, helpful feedback to use for the next interviews. I am still in the process of going through the next rounds.
