Interviewed May 2011 in Woodland, CA (took 3 weeks)
A recruiter from Target contacted me after finding my resume online. He was very excited and wanted to interview me for a position they had in a Distribution Center. We went back and forth trying to connect and the initial conversation was about the position and what it entailed.
There was a follow up interview with the same person that fit the Behavior Event Interviewing type. Interview was neutral....how much can you do in 20 min on the phone. At the end the interview I asked and he said that they would get back to me within a week or two. That was three weeks ago.
I followed up a week later with an email - no reply. Week after that, phone call - no reply. Week after that final email - no reply.
In my opinion very unprofessional conclusion to the process. If I wasn't a fit, just let me know - it would only take a second. Good luck to anyone who wants to work for Target...not a very professional organization from what I have experienced.

Interviewed May 2011 (took 2 days)
Applied online. Received a call the next day from a Target recruiter. Asked basic housekeeping type questions. Also asked why I was interested in position, what type of manager I am, strengths/weaknesses. No real behavioral questions, just more get to know me questions. Said she'd hand it to the team and they'd get back to me in the next week or two to set up a more formal phone interview. I'll update as I progress.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Tyler, TX (took 2 weeks)
The hiring process was very structured and enticing. The HR team was very capable at showing all the pros of working for Target in a time of recession.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took a day)
Initial communication was a phone interview- basic questions. Then they set up an interview at the warehouse, which consists of three separate interviews with 2 to 3 interviewers asking questions. The question were tell me a time when type questions. Examples: Tell me when you had to persuade a group you idea was a good one. How do you motivate people. When have you failed at something. When have you made a mistake. When have you challenged you boss. When have you changed something inside your company. The interviewers were polite and it wasn't intimidating at all, just prepare for these types of questions and you should be alright.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 2 weeks)
Had an initial screening over the phone. Basic questions just to pre screen before they waste their time. They then contacted me to set up a phone interview. After this screening I moved on to a distribution management assessment. This took about an hour and was a behavior based interview. Felt solid about it, but a week later was advised I did not move on to the final stage.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 2 weeks)
I met a recruiter on my college campus. They scheduled an on campus interview later that same day. Fast I know! I received a phone call about a month later asking if I was interested in coming up to a DC in a few weeks to have another interview. I set the date, and proceeded with the interview. When I arrived, they gave me a tour of the facility, then I had 3 separate interviews, some were 1:1, and some had more than 1 person interviewing me. Mostly situational questions. At the conclusion of the day, they told me they would be in touch in the next couple of weeks. Very friendly staff throughout the facility, it was clear they enjoyed their jobs!

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Dekalb, IL (took 3 weeks)
HR contacted me the next day after applying online to set up a phone interview. I set up the interview two days later, and we went over some basic questions and the overall responsibilities of the job. Then we set up another interview two days later for the behavioral questions. They look for specific examples, leadership type, and the role you played in the situation. Use the STAR format (Situation, Task, Actions, and Result). If you don't use this, then it's your own fault because they tell you to use it.
After the behavioral questions, they said I will be contacted in one to two weeks by email or phone. I will update this when they contact me.

Interviewed Jul 2008 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 months)
Applied online and got a call 3 week later to set up a phone interview the following week. Had the phone interview and was told I should wait for a call for next steps. Two weeks later I was set up for a interview at the distribution center. The interview consisted of a round robin format with myself and 2-3 other managers in the room. I rotated 3 times with different interview teams. Total time was 4 hours. After the interview I was told I should hear from them in a week. Two weeks later I got a phone call and was extended an offer.

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took a day)
So far have just been through the initial phone interview, about three weeks after applying online, has gone well so far.
Got the classic question of "What would others say is your biggest weakness"
And that was followed by "What do you think your biggest weakness is"
I like the interviewer I've been communicating with, don't know how much of my answers will be accurately communicated. I worry that my answers are being condensed into something quickly typed into a form on their computer and may not accurately reflect my full meaning.
Am a little curious about the fact that the specific position I'm looking for seems to have been posted months ago, and you would think it would have been filled by now so I worry I'm just being put on file "IF" something opens up at the specific facility I was interested in or another facility somewhere else.
If I go through the whole process I'd be disappointed if there is no actual immediate opening and would feel a little misled if that were the case.
