Standard 3 round interview process. Was happy to meet with multiple managers. Interviewers encouraged the use of the STAR method. Had an opportunity to meet with the site manager and human resources team.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time where you had to think outside of the box?
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Los Angeles, CA) in Nov 2011
Interview
The hiring process for me consisted of two 1 on 1 interviews, one in New York and another in California and an online assessment. It was purely behavioral and lasted around 30 minutes. The interviewer was very nice and personable. He walked me through what to expect during the interview and explained that, for each question, he wanted me to respond using the STAR method (situation-task-action-result). There were about 10 behavioral questions total, some more difficult than others, but they were all standard questions.
After the first interview, I was told I had advanced to the next round and was asked to fill out an online assessment consisting of some quantitative and critical thinking questions. I was then invited to interview at a regional office in Los Angeles since that's where I wanted to intern. I met with three different individuals from the HR team, who were also really friendly. They asked me more behavioral questions and went more in depth to find out why I wanted to work at Target and what past experiences that have prepared me for the job.
About a week after the interview, I got an offer from the recruiter. The interview process was smooth and organized. The only downside was that there was a long wait during the second interview. It took almost 4 hours going for one interviewer to another and waiting for the next person to be ready.
