Interviewed Nov 2011 in Menifee, CA (took 3 days)
I applied for a seasonal job with Target about 1.5-2 weeks ago. I've applied in the past and never heard anything back but low and behold a week later a woman called me at 7:30 in the morning asking if I would come in for an interview at 11. I said I couldn't so she offered me a 3:30 slot which I took. So I go down to the store and told them what I was there for and a lady sat me down at a computer and I took a questionnaire similar to the one you fill out online the 1st time. Then I sat in the breakroom for about 45 minutes. Then I was called back and was interviewed by a very nice lady. She asked me most of the questions people on here have already posted. I was really nerves and a little jittery but she understood and everything went okay. Then I was sent back to the breakroom and waited about 20 minutes when another woman called me back. She was nice, really distracted, but nice. She asked me some more questions (some were repeats from the 1st interview) and then she offered me a job. She told me their HR person had left for the day and to come back in 2 days. When I came back, I talked with the HR woman (very nice), signed a couple forms and she told me to come back in a week for orientation, pending a clean drug test (which I don't plan on failing).
Overall it was really easy and this site helped me prepare because all the questions people talked about are more than likely the ones you'll get asked.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Redlands, CA (took 3 days)
From the initial application placed to accepting the conditional offer took a total of 5 days. It seems that they are hiring plenty for seasonal, as the two ladies waiting for their interviews ahead of me were hired as well (pending background & drug test). The questions they asked me were identical to the ones listed on the site. From the top of my head:
1) Why do you want to work for Target?
2) How your previous managers/supervisors would rate your strengths?
3) Areas of improvement? (this is a continuation of the previous question)
4) Times you've worked with someone to accomplish a goal.
5) Describe a time you were frustrated with a co-worker.
The two gentlemen who interviewed me were extremely nice, and gave a thorough explanation of what they were looking in their answers. Being that they're all behavioral questions -- they want you to answer in a Situation - Action - Result (Outcome) explanation. At this point of the interview my nervousness went away and I actually felt comfortable answering the questions -- they were exceedingly supportive and kind with my answers, often times agreeing and giving me a nod.
After the questions, they'll leave the interview open for any questions you may have. I shot them a few questions regarding the work place, different positions, and they both seemed willing to answer them. At the end, they tally each grade and base it off a rubric with how well-qualified you are. After this, they tell you to go back into the seating room and the wait for a few minutes while the HR prepares their interview with you.
The 2nd "interview" -- meeting with the HR, was basically the lady giving me the green that I was hired, and an overview of the background/drug test process. They'll have you fill a few forms out (background check / drug testing location and deadlines), have you sign a form with your availability, and one last form about your seasonal agreement, what your position and salary is.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I'm not too great when it comes to interviews but they made me feel at ease. I'd highly suggest reviewing your behavioral answers for a few hours so you have an general idea of what to say.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Murrieta, CA (took 3 days)
I had applied online about a month and a half before they called me for an interview. When they called to schedule an interview i had forgotten that i had even applied. I scheduled an interview for Friday. The lady who scheduled my interview told me to show up 15 minutes early to take a pre-assesment test at one of their kiosks. The test wasn't difficult it was just a bunch of situational questions. Then I went into the back room and was told to wait in the Break Room until I was called. There was 2 interviews. The first lady that interview me was the Team Lead of Food Ave. She was young and friendly and made the interview really relaxed and laid back. If it was just up to her I think I would have gotten the job. Then I was told to have a seat in the Break Room and wait until my second interviewer came. My next interviewer was a guy and I could tell right off the bat that he took his job waaay to seriously. One of the questions he asked me was "When was the last time you helped someone out without them having to ask" and i told him about how one of my friends was complaining about needing a ride to work and i volunteered to give him one. Then my interviewer goes "You don't have anything else better than that?" HOW RUDE! Was it an amazing answer? No. Was it horrible? No.I mean come on I'm 18 years old and applying to work in the food court and he wanted me to answer the questions like i was a 40 year old woman with 20 years retail experience! I knew then that none of my answers would meet his standards. I was just ready to leave but i answered the rest of the questions as best i could. After the interview was over he told me that they still had a few more people to interview that day and that they would be calling people back on Monday if they got hired. Well today is Monday and i just checked my email and saw that I didn't get the job. I feel bad for anyone who gets interviewed by that guy.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Menifee, CA (took a day)
Applied online for multiple positions. Got called the day after for an interview. Went in and was told to take another computer questionnaire. It was some math questions. Then went in to interview with the team leader. Then had a second interview, this time with the store asset protection person.
Basic interview questions, describe a time when... and such. My responses were spot on and both interviewers liked them and liked my experience.
The position was one which I had done previously at Kmart. Perfect experience. No idea why I didn't get the job. Very disappointing, and somewhat aggravating.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Menifee, CA (took a day)
The interview was simple. Just the basic retail interview. For example, 'why do you want to work at Target', 'why did you choose to apply for a cashier', 'where do you see yourself with Target in 5 years'. And then there's the basic job interview where they ask, 'tell me about a time you were frustrated with another employee and how did you deal with it', and the 'tell me about the time you went above and beyond and how did it affect you' type thing. They don't really mind of what you're wearing, just don't be wearing anything provocative or anything that will get you in trouble. After that, I got a call about 30 minutes later saying I was hired and needed to do a background check and a drug test. Then after that, got another call a week or two later saying I passed the tests and needed to come to orientation. (;

Interviewed Mar 2011 in San Bernardino, CA (took 1 week)
Started with a phone Interview
Next step was another phone interview
Then I met with the District Manager.
Everyone was nice. In the end I didn't get an offer but I would rate the experience as positive. Every question is "Tell me about a time when..."
I didn't hear back for a while so when I emailed my recruiter I was responded to with a cut copy paste rejection letter.

Be prepared for behavioral questions. Use the STAR model - Situation, Action, Task, Result. If you explained your answer well, they usually won't ask you a lot of follow-up questions. Interviewers were all very pleasant.

Interviewed Jul 2009 in Murrieta, CA (took a day)
There was a Super Target going into a shopping center in Murrieta, so they were hiring somewhere to around 100 new employees. They did it in groups. I was scheduled to arrive at 2:30PM. When I got there, there was about 10 other people who were also scheduled to arrive at 2:30PM. When 2:30 came, a Target employee gave us a introduction and explained how the interview process was going to be. Next, we went into a room to watch something like a training video. Basically, it gave a summary of what the Target image was, and how Target employees are supposed to hold themselves. Then we each took a skills test based on the position that you applied for. Once I finished, I waited to have my first 1:1 interview. From there, they sent me to another room to wait for my second interview with a different interviewer. After that, they told me to wait for a phone call or an email... I got the email.
