Interviewed Oct 2010 in Menifee, CA (took a day)
The interview was simple. Just the basic retail interview. For example, 'why do you want to work at Target', 'why did you choose to apply for a cashier', 'where do you see yourself with Target in 5 years'. And then there's the basic job interview where they ask, 'tell me about a time you were frustrated with another employee and how did you deal with it', and the 'tell me about the time you went above and beyond and how did it affect you' type thing. They don't really mind of what you're wearing, just don't be wearing anything provocative or anything that will get you in trouble. After that, I got a call about 30 minutes later saying I was hired and needed to do a background check and a drug test. Then after that, got another call a week or two later saying I passed the tests and needed to come to orientation. (;

Interviewed Mar 2011 in San Bernardino, CA (took 1 week)
Started with a phone Interview
Next step was another phone interview
Then I met with the District Manager.
Everyone was nice. In the end I didn't get an offer but I would rate the experience as positive. Every question is "Tell me about a time when..."
I didn't hear back for a while so when I emailed my recruiter I was responded to with a cut copy paste rejection letter.

Be prepared for behavioral questions. Use the STAR model - Situation, Action, Task, Result. If you explained your answer well, they usually won't ask you a lot of follow-up questions. Interviewers were all very pleasant.

Interviewed Jul 2009 in Murrieta, CA (took a day)
There was a Super Target going into a shopping center in Murrieta, so they were hiring somewhere to around 100 new employees. They did it in groups. I was scheduled to arrive at 2:30PM. When I got there, there was about 10 other people who were also scheduled to arrive at 2:30PM. When 2:30 came, a Target employee gave us a introduction and explained how the interview process was going to be. Next, we went into a room to watch something like a training video. Basically, it gave a summary of what the Target image was, and how Target employees are supposed to hold themselves. Then we each took a skills test based on the position that you applied for. Once I finished, I waited to have my first 1:1 interview. From there, they sent me to another room to wait for my second interview with a different interviewer. After that, they told me to wait for a phone call or an email... I got the email.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Palm Desert, CA (took 2 days)
Fielded inquiry from recruiter. Had initial phone interview. I was contacted a few days later by recruiter and took situational based interview over the phone. She had me go down to the regional office 3 days later. Had an interview with an STL and DTL, both of which were sit-based. Advised I would have an answer soon. That was yesterday. To date, no call.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Riverside, CA (took 6 weeks)
Target was very fun, friendly and professional. I've been to several interviews and most of them seemed a little hostile or critical which can really affect your interview performance, but at target they made you feel comfortable as if you're already part of the company. First I had a phone interview and then they invited me to headquarters in Riverside to do 3 more interviews. I met with a STL (Store Team Leader), HR rep, and then finally the DTL (District Team leader). I was told that I would be contacted within a week with a response but 2 weeks passed and nothing. Finally I called and they told me that they were still very interested in me but had to go through a lot more interview candidates. Also I had one more final interview to go through with the DTL I was supposed to be working with; but he/she was on vacation until the next week. Several more weeks had passed and I thought that maybe Target had forgotten about me but thankfully they called and offered me the position! I guess I didn't have to go through that final interview. In every interview, they asked behavioral based questions and they really want a specific answer. I used a combination of work and school experiences to answer the questions. But don't be fooled, some of the questions are a little difficult to work with, so prepare and don't lie. Make sure that your answers show how you were able to lead or be an effective manager. All of the questions I was asked were already posted on this forum.

They offered me 45k with bonus and benefits. Maybe I should've tried to negotiate but seeing as though I've been unemployed for 2 years and it took 6 weeks for them to offer me the position, I don't think 45k is too bad a salary, especially in the economy. Overall I'm really excited to start my career with target and hope to be here the next 20-30 years!

Interviewed May 2010 in Upland, CA (took a day)
I had been interviewed by Target before, so this was more of the same. A one-on-one interview with a manager who asks basic questions like, "Why Target?", and "Discuss a time when..." scenarios. This process took about 15 mins, then she told me to wait in the break room for the second interview. The next manager was obviously higher up on the ladder. She was much more rude than the first woman. Also she picked away at everything you say...really got on my nerves.

Interviewed May 2010 in Riverside, CA (took 2 days)
I applied online back in September of 2009, and I did not get a call about my resume until My of 2010. I just had my phon interview yesterday and they scheduled me for a face to face interview with a Store Team Leader (in charge of the whole store), and another person. I did not know I was having a phone interview when I spoke with the STL, so I was completely unprepared- I had to think on my feet becuase I was actually just returning her call, and when I called her back we went throuugh a 35 min phone interview. I did not think it was going as well as it should have (again becuase I had no idea this was what our conversation was going to be about) and I was being chased by a bee while we were talking. I guess it went well becuase she scheduled me for an in person 2:1 interview for 2 days later (tomarrow). But, it kinda sounds like this is there process-- many interviews. My phone interview consisted of background questions about my past employment and education. She was very interested in my education, I am a recent graduate, which is refreshing becuase lately it seems like no one cares about a degree anymore, and she asked me questions about management and leadership classes that I have taken.
Next she asked me behavoial/situational questions about when I have made a mistake at work, and how did I respond to negative feedback on my last review.
I kind of felt like all of the questions were based in negativity.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Riverside, CA (took 2 weeks)
I sent the college recruiter my resume on my college career center website and they scheduled an interview for a week later. The interview was kind of tough. There were two individuals in the interview, one recording my answers and one asking the questions. They began the interview by telling me about Target and ended my saying that the interview will be an all behavioral based interview consisting of five questions. If you have had a lot of experience managing people, the questions wouldn't be too hard. The same day I got a response saying they had found someone else. Overall good experience.
