Interviewed Jul 2011 (took 2+ weeks)
About 30 minutes on the phone and then a week later an email declining to go any further "at this time". They provide no feedback as to what was good or bad. It was a typical phone screen that is meant to narrow the field. I have never been a big fan of the phone screen and still not.

Interviewed May 2011 (took 6 days)
I was contacted on Thursday to setup a phone interview the following Tuesday at 2pm. I accepted the interview. The interview lasted approximately 40-45 minutes. The interviewer asked these questions:
Started with describing previous work experience(s)
Why Target?
What is your biggest weakness? Why?
Salary Expectations?
I asked what are the next steps in the process? Interviewer replied that she had to review this with the HR manager and would be back in touch by the end of the week.
On Thursday I received a computer generated email to Thank me for speaking to them, but they were pursuing other candidates.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Pensacola, FL (took 3 months)
Target hiring process requires 5 total interviews. The first two are usually w/ HR reps that do the initial screening for your experience, interests and goals. They also give you a preview of the company and types of questions commonly asked in future interviews. Recommend looking-up Behavior Type Questions for interviews and getting prepared. 3 interviews are face-to-face and are very similar to the phone interviews but are conducted w/ some senior corp leadership. Each interview takes about 30+ minutes.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 6+ weeks)
Recruiter wanted me to believe that the Store Team Leader position (general manager) was only a 45-50 hour per week commitment. Research showed me to expect much longer hours than that. Interviews were easy with usually four or five behavioral based questions each time.

Interviewed Jul 2009 (took 1 week)
I completed a phone interview with a Target recruiter. It was very basic and she was trying to generally see how my comm skills were. My next interview was with a District Manager. She asked me some "What if" questions as well as "Tell me about a time..." questions.
I then had an interview with a Regional Mgr and a finance person. This was similar to the other questions.
In the end I was not offered a job. The reason that was given was I was not bubbly or openly happy and positive enough. This seemed silly at the time as I was just retiring from the military and I assumed they were recruiting me for my military bearing and experience. I may have been a bit too serious in the interview.

Interviewed Jul 2010 (took 6 weeks)
Second phone interview with the same recruiter. She asked more behavioral questions: Tell me about a time when you used influence to make something happen? Tell me about a time when you had to deliver difficult news? Tell me about a time when you actively solicited input and how that went? Tell me about a time when you got results that exceeded other's expectations?

The man who interview me was very unprofessional. He talked about himself most of the time, and did not seem interested in what I had to say. I was not impressed.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took 1 week)
Contacted by recruiter and had phone interview for STL / ETL. Questions were mostly behavioral with a couple of standard quetions (see below). Took about 35 minutes after which I was told I would be contacted to setup interview with DTL within a week.
Questions in order as I remember them:
Tell me about your experience and background.
What are your top 3 things you are looking to get out of a position with target?
What is your greatest weakness?
Behavioral Questions:
Tell me about a time you used your influence on a person and what the results were.
Tell me about a time you led a project that got out of hand.
Tell me about a time you had to share difficult news with your team.
Tell me about a time you had to rely on others (teamwork) to get a task done.
Tell me about a time you developed/mentored someone. Many follow up questions regarding succession planning, development, mentoring.
There may have been one or two others similar to what I have read on different posts.
After the interview I received some tips from others that have worked on target. Wish I would have spoken to them first. They basically mentioned to present yourself in a professional, fun, energetic light and to let your personality shine through. Hiring managers are more concerned about your "fit" with the company at this point as you generally have the skillset needed or they wouldn't be contacting you.
You want to be someone good to work for or with, show them you have the ability to engage, enspire, coach, develop, and help others. Also mentioned having the capacity to recognize other's strengths and weaknesses and the ability to give and receive feedback.
Go to the target website and under the careers page there is a "Resources for Candidates" section that gives you some interviewing tips. The part that talks about power stories and wins is essential to a good interview process. Make sure you answer your behavioral questions in the STAR format. STAR=Situation, Task, Actions, Result.
Spoke with a former HR rep and he stated that the next steps will be an interview with the DTL, then a panel interview and perhaps one more. Panel interview is designed to "Stress" test you and see how you respond in a stressful environoment.
Thats all I have for now. Will post more once I have the next interview.

Interviewed May 2009 in Miami, FL (took 3 weeks)
It was okay. Two people interview you, one asks questions one writes answers. For the most part, the questions are based on your past experiences. Then you do a second interview. Very similar questions if not the same exact questions. Pretty basic. The people are fairly friendly and they do a good job of telling you all about the company, etc.
