Business Analyst Interview

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services in July 2014.

Interview Details – Great interview.... weird hiring process. It seemed like a great interview, and I got an offer the very next day, but the offer was only specific as to the money. The benefits portion was vague and listed a bunch of different things along with a note saying "this is not a guarantee that these are your benefits, this is just some things we offer." Since I'm going to have to give up some incredible healthcare insurance, I had questions about what exactly that means. When I got someone on the phone to ask those questions, they said they'd get back to me by the end of the next day, but then they never spoke to me again - stopped returning my calls, emails, etc. The only other thing that happened during that call was that the TCS man asked if I had kids or planned on it - not technically legal to ask about - and I mentioned that I did not and could not. He asked what I meant, and I mentioned previously having cancer. The offer package also had asked me to sign a letter saying I have a disability including cancer and diabetes (diabetes caused by the cancer treatments) - both in remission, however, and not interfering with my performance. So, I'm not sure if they decided that having a disability (so labelled by them, on their paperwork) meant they changed their mind about the offer, but it doesn't seem any more unlikely than changing their minds because I asked about the benefits... either way, it definitely has damaged their reputation in my eyes, unfortunately.

Interview Question – They were surprised that my translation of a bunch of legal documents only matched 70% with the translation they received from the client - anyone doing translations knows that's going to happen - but their resolution was to run it through google translator. For legal documents! I had to explain to them why you don't do that, and why my translations were accurate. Very surprising.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Miserable. I asked questions about the offer, and I guess that was a bad thing, because they never spoke to me again.

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services in August 2013.

Interview Details – Interview process can be rocky, was recruited by an unknown firm from another state- group type interview that lasted less than 5 minutes at a hotel. Lots of phone calls, hit or miss, not sure if the entire process was real, but turned out great for me. Just be patient. Indian company not American and they have different processes than we're accustomed to -

Interview Question – No difficult questions or surprises at all   View Answer

I applied through a staffing agency and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services in February 2012.

Interview Details – There was a post in the naukri about the position and TCS was recruiting freshers in Bangalore for the first time in 2012 so having thousands was very obvious at the center. After initial screening by a written test only 100 were shortlisted. Then there was a informal HR round checking your comm skills and area of interest and willing to relocate in a short notice.
Later, 2 telephonic interviews taken, one was more of a puzzle and analytical round and other taken in a couple of days which made everything clear since it was a very simple introductory round.
I cleared all the rounds and received offer letter the same week and have been told to relocate to a different city the same week.

Interview Question – Pretty simple if you have basic quantitative and reasoning power.   Answer Question
