It was for the Websphere Message Broker developer position. Initially I was reluctant to apply for this position since I joined another company 4 months back. But the HR convinced me that the offer letter will be valid for 3 months and you can took a decision meanwhile. So I applied for this.
There was technical round over phone. It was good. But not that tough. And I was asked to come to TCS Campus (Chennai, Schollinganalloor) for another phase.
There I had a technical round again (via Phone) and another manager round (Phone). Both were good. basically they were asking about your experience, Challenges, roles, what is looking ahead etc.
After I have been short listed for the HR round. I have been redirected to a hall were many HR people are discussing an 1-1 discussion. I have been called by an HR and she went through my profile. She asked me the reason for joining Changing company.
Then she informed the expected CTC. I looked for 20~30 % hike from current CTC. But the HR declined that directly and informed no offer other than the current CTC. She never had a communication with previous interview round folks to at least check this candidate should get hired or not. Also she didnt even try to convince about TCS and the offer she was giving.
I directly denied the offer and left the location...!!!
My personal opinion is check with the recruiter upfront about the salary and do not waste your time attending Technical and Manager rounds. The HR person will never going to check the feedback from the previous round and she will come to the decision by herself.
Interview Question – There was nothing like that. if you are technically sound, can clear the first rounds. But your offer depends on the HR persosn to whom you got the chance to get interviewed. Answer Question
Reason for Declining – No salary Hike...!!!
