Interviewed Jul 2011 in Gurgaon, Haryana (India) (took 3 days)
1) Typical interview goes for 30 mins and it starts with behaviorial questions and eventually gets down to the technical details.
2) Though the position might not need technical expertize, make sure that you are prepared to answer technical interview questions
3) It will help to inquire in advance about the product you will support and know the competitors. Have a perspective on why TCS product might be better based on the clients and other details.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in New Delhi (India) (took a day)
Initially, just like everyone else, my perception of TCS was that of a bulk recruiter. Nevertheless it was supposed to be and is a good platform to start your career with.
The interview preparations included searching Internet and asking seniors to know the type of questions asked and the difficulty level.
An advice: Be prepared to explain in detail your FINAL YEAR PROJECT and to face a number of questions on it.
Now when I am in the company, the great points about it are its values and ethics, and feeling of being a part of a large organisation. People here cannot be generalized as it is a large organisation with a wide range of behavior to be seen. Though, in general, the environment is good and discipline-focussed.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in Gurgaon, Haryana (India) (took a day)
The Hiring process consisted of two rounds of interview, first with the business team - The interview was pretty smooth, need to be witty and confident, was presented with a business case which needed to be solved. Started with all common sensical questions related to business and went about finding issues and providing recommendations. The business case was for Order-to-cash cycle. After that went for a salary negotiation round with HR. Dont take the crap like this salary is just your fixed component you will earn money mostly through travel, as Travel starts only in the second year. TCS has a policy of not sending people abroad during the first year.
