Interviewed Oct 2011 in New York, NY (took 2 months)
I researched TFA online and had a lot of support from campus recruiters. First, I had to submit an application online, which was a long questionare, and a personal statement. The first round was a 30 minute phone interview and the final round interview was a full day in person interview. Everybody that I spoke to from the company was very nice and friendly with a clear passion for the issues. There are a ton of resources on their website as well.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
Interviewed with a recruiter on a college campus, submitted a resume and cover letter (in addition to their fairly lengthy online application). Was skipped directly to the final interview and am now awaiting results of the interview. Final interview consisted of a sample lesson, a group interview, and a 1:1 interview.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in New York, NY (took 6 weeks)
The hiring process is quite long, there is 5 to 6 rounds of interviews. The first few take place over the phone. As you get further along in the process, they may have another interviewer meet with you that is closer to your region/area. Then if you pass all those processes, will you possibly receive a fly out.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Boston, MA (took 3 months)
Applied and invited to phone interview. After phone interview, invited to Final Interview. Final Interview consisted of a group of about 15 candidates in a room with a Selector. Each applicant has to teach a 5 minute sample lesson on a topic of their choosing, and then there are several group activities that are looking for your to shine as a leader. The day ends with a 1-on-1 interview with the Selector for 15 minutes. It is a long day, but it is generally exciting.

Please please please, I urge you to apply before the 5th deadline! If you apply for the 5th deadline, you are going to be forced to do everything required to matriculate in a whirlwind period. You won't have any time to make adjustments, and it is very easy to get mistreated and knocked around if you join that late. Please, apply for an earlier deadline!

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 3 weeks)
The phone interview seemed extremely scripted. The interviewer sounded like she was reading off sheet of paper and was just trying to get through as many questions as she could in 30 minutes. I felt she herself was extremely nervous and not as focused on my answers that I was giving her.

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Washington, DC (took 2 months)
Teach for America is a seemingly great program. They offer college graduates an excellent forum to put off the real world, while adding a goldmine to their resume. With that said, TFA is not respected amongst the teaching community, and they are more interested in adding people with rockstar resumes, than people who might actually be a good teacher (hence, education majors cannot apply). The program is backwards.
TFA is famous for stringing people along. They receive more applicants than just about any job, so it is difficult to make each step of the process. It consists of an initial application with essay, a short question/answer online "test", a phone interview, and an intensive all day interview with a practice lesson. While this may sound easy, candidates at each stage are cut for not apparent reason.
It is an extremely difficult process for a college senior who is likely going through his first application, and is largely unfair. I would avoid the TFA headache, because even if accepted into the program, be ready for a 2 year nightmare which a high percentage of participants soon hate.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Went through 1 phone screening, 2 phone interviews, and 1 final on-site interview. I applied online and TFA was very good with e-mail/phone communication. I had to do various tasks and projects and e-mail it back to them for their review. You must know their core values and demonstrate your interest in them.

Interviewed Feb 2009 (took a day)
Applied online and was given a notice to sign up for a phone interview after about two weeks. I recommend going to reserve your spot for the phone interview as soon as you get the notice. I waited about a day before reserving my spot and ended up getting the last one, which I had to skip class for. There is no flexibility in signing up for time slots.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 1 week)
I applied for this position but had already applied and interviewed for a previous position in the past. Therefore there was a quick turnaround time. They gave me a skills test to complete which was difficult. It was an excel spreadsheet but it was a lot. After review of the skills test, they told me I would not be moving up in the process.
