Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed Apr 2009 in Dallas, TX (took 2 weeks)
Personality test designed to capture a hunter mentality. I was invited to conduct a phone interview with a very gruff discrepant type of person. example;asked a question how do respond to the RFP process ? Do you write them? Yourself (I answered with "I have been tasked with writing them, myself , but sometimes I had a team involved was my answer? Apparently, it was wrong ":). More of accusation then question; The personality test revealed you don't like to cold call. My response "This is what makes me successful in a hunter role" There was an on going issue with dismissing qualified candidates because of her say so. The recruiter said this was a problem, and he was working with them to over turn the person conducting the phone interview. So, the in person Interview came next. Interim VP and head of Project Management.

Reason for Declining
I didn't get an offer, instead I chose to walk away. The day before I called the Human Resources Manager to confirm time and place, and asked if I could present a PPT to the Interim VP and Head of Project Management. She responded with "No this is an hour of get to know the candidate, I get to know them, etc." I walked in and the Head of Project Management was not there. It was just the Interim VP, who started a grand inquisition, asking questions and then interrupting asking question then interrupting. TelVista is one of the largest of contact call center third party outsourcers in the world, this is what attracted me to this position. Let's beat up the sales person Strategy works if you are trying to test character and to see how they respond to pressure, but not in a, I get to know you synopsis which is what I was told I was walking into. (this is what the phone interview is for) Interim VP has no business there, not unless you are selling cars . Over confident Interim VP, with a confrontational stance do not work in this environment. That isn't the way you would sell the product so why do you demand this up to front. They are sending the wrong message. It was a position my gut feeling and connections told me to walk away from. Wonder why they are having problems attracting current reps.
Other Details
I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview and a Personality Test.
