Interviewed Dec 2010 (took a day)
Three rounds of interview. First round was a written test to check analytical, logical skills and written english skills. From around 100 candidates about 14 were chosen. The second round was a panel interview with two HR personnel. This round included behavioral questions and general interview questions. The third round was an 1:1 interview with the hiring manager. Again, it consisted on general interview questions.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 3 days)
There were plenty of different rounds before the final interview with HR like,
1) Aptitude Test (normal RS Agarwal stuff)
2) MS Excel test (bounded time duration, so little difficult, around 5-8 questions)
3) Skills test+background check
4) Group interview (mostly the team you join, it's Line Manager, his Senior or sometimes the client too)
5) final round with HR (final person to talk to about all you queries, expectations, compensation etc.)
Most of the time employee referrals work to a great extent at TESCO-HSC.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Bangalore (India) (took 2 weeks)
The HR team was quite professional. The interviews took place at the mentioned time and there we no undue waiting. 3 i9nterviews in all. A telephonic HR round, a round with the hiring manager and a round with the director.
The work culture is quite relaxed as this is a captive centre. The emphasis is more on employee engagement and satisfaction.
The people are very friendly and the offices are a good facility

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Bangalore (India) (took a day)
I applied for the job through employee referral. The HR called me and had an informal telephonic interview where she asked about my career highlights, reason for leaving my recent job and my expected salary. I was then scheduled to attend a face-to-face interview at their venue in ITPL - Bangalore.
Time taken to collect the resume: 10 hours
# of applicants: 140 (on that day alone)
Interview procedure: The interview was scheduled on a Saturday and there was only 1 HR present to interview all the 140 applicants. She arrived 1hr later than her scheduled arrival while all candidates waited at the reception.
She escorted us upstairs to the training room where we were to wait. Then she went on a lunch-break for 45 minutes. She returned and started interviewing the candidates one by one, juggling between interviews and other paper-work that kept her busy. Every now and then, she would burst into the room and announce to all the candidates that she was really stressed and we need to bear with the delay as she cant quicken up the interview all by herself.
It was their 2nd day at the venue for a few candidates. They had already gone through the same delays earlier and had come back to finish their 2nd interview round i.e. with the Operations Manager. After 8 hours of wait, the HR confessed that the Operations Manager hasn't shown up and that their 2nd round will be re-scheduled. They went away grumbling and cursing.
The training room still had many candidates waiting for the 1st round. So the HR decided to conduct the 1st round in groups to save time. She would escort 6-8 candidates together into her cabin and interview them. everyone had to take turns to answer these questions:
- Tell me about yourself
- why did you quit your last job?
- How much salary are you drawing currently?
- How much salary are you expecting at Tesco?
These were the same questions asked to all of us in our telephonic rounds but we repeated it nevertheless. It was a little uncomfortable as we had to discuss our salary and other details in a group. She said that she will inform us if we were shortlisted.
A few days later, an HR executive from her team called to inform me that my 2nd round was scheduled that following Saturday with the Operations Manager. To my bad luck, the call got disconnected due to bad network. Neither dd the HR executive care to call me back nor was he available on the line no matter how many times I tried calling back. I simply decided to show up for the 2nd round though I didn't have all the details. When I reached the venue, the HR lady who conducted the 1st round said that no one from her team called me as I wasn't shortlisted. When I reasoned to her by showing the call log on my phone and told her that I was told that my 2nd round was scheduled that day, she denied it. She even demanded that I must produce a print-out of the mail inviting me to the 2nd round. I had no choice but to return home as there was no e-mail invite sent to me.
A month later, another HR from Tesco called me and said that I had been shortlisted for the Team Leader post in another process. I showed up for the interview and finished my 1st round in no time. She told me that I've been shortlisted for the 2nd round with the Operations Manager, which will happen in a few minutes. Just then the HR lady I met last time happened to enter the room. The last i remember seeing her was when she asked my interviewer to accompany her into another cabin. The next thing I know is the interview coming back to me and telling that my 2nd round has been cancelled and I must wait until further notice. Till date, I have no idea why the HR at Tesco behaved like morons.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took a day)
The way which Tesco HSC recruits freshers is still not clear. I got the opportunity by an employee refferal. Initially there was an Intelligence Test about 70 questions with a duration of 70 minutes and all questions were multiple choice. Before beginning the test however, we were asked to write a mock email (the topic varied for different batches) to test language competenency and the intelligence test was held parallely after a duration of 10 minutes.
It took about three-and-half hours to announce the results and I got through. The next phase consisted of three rounds of interviews viz. a technical round, a managerial round and a final 1:1 interview with the HR Manager.
All rounds were pretty straight forward. The questions from the technical round was mostly from my resume and about the project done during my final semester and it's practical relevance nothing else. The next round (managerial) was obvious enough were the panelist would ask you how you would handle different scenarios under pressure (I was asked about ego and modesty with related scenarios and how I would deal with them). Body language and verbal competancy was also checked here.
Finally, the final round was a basic test of English language and if you've probably cleared the previous rounds then this is a no-brainer.
I was'nt provided with any offer letter initially and my letter came by mail after two weeks. I was asked to collect my appointment letter a week before my joining date which was two months from the date of my interview.

I wasn't able to negotiate about anything as I was a fresher and I didn't even know the designation that I was applying for. For freshers who are applying, know about what Tesco HSC is all about before applying. Their website is a good place to start.

I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, an IQ/Intelligence Test and a Skills Test.
