There is not an interview process, your are promoted via your yearly reports and on paper the best person gets the job, there should be an interview process when you reach SNCO as lots of good people are not promoted due to certain Line Managers being very poor at report writing.

Team work interviews, and command tasks are used for selection. There are group debates and current affairs tests. There are public speaking tests and a few easy fitness exercises. I had no problems although it was a while ago and may have changed.

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at The British Army.

    Interview Details

The interview process is called the AOSB (Army Officer Selection Board). It is three testing days which will include physical tests, verbal and written tests. To get to this point you will normally have conduced several visits to prospective branches of the Army who will have briefed you on what to expect. You need to be confident and articulate with the ability to logically analyse problems and provide a written and verbal brief to a panel. You should be a natural leader and problem solver.

    Interview Questions
    • Many people find the Command Tasks difficult. These are a series of physical challenges (sort of like the crystal maze, but with barrels and rope!). In some a leader is appointed in others they are leaderless to see who stands out.   View Answer
