Interviewed May 2012 in Bloomington, IL (took 2 weeks)
Initially applied for a sales position. The manager was still on break when I came in and I was told to shop around. Talked with the employees on the floor and wandered around while waiting. Manager interviewed me outside of the store in the mall. Asked about my previous jobs, customer service skills, and ability to be assertive. Asked about my major and schedule. Seemed interested in my work/volunteer experience. Overall spent about 20 minutes waiting and 10 minutes being interviewed. I was told I would get an email in 48 hours with an answer but it never came. About two weeks later I went into the store to "shop" around and struck up a conversation with the manager. He offered me a freight coordinator position and put me in the system that day. The two most important things they seem to look for are if you love/wear/know their products and if you can talk. If you can make small talk with a few employees or the manager when shopping, you'll be good.

Interviewed May 2012 (took 5 days)
So like everyone else I applied online got and email right after say to call and make an interview but after reading all the reviews on here I wasn't sure I even wanted to work there so I never csalled then on Monday ( I applied Friday afternoon ) I got a call from the manager to set up an interview I figured since she called me I might as well just interview and see how it goes ,it was set for the next day at 3:30 I got there 10 mins early so 3:20 they told me to look around and it would be a min so I did for about 5 mins then the manger came out and greeted me ,it was in the middle of the store like most other peoples she was really friendly and was listening to what I was saying
then half way threw she started looking behind me alot and just laughing and smiling I had no idea what was going on and didn't want to actually turn and look so I assume it was on of the other workers which I thought was very rude after that I got really nervous in fear that they were laughing at me but anyway the interview finished and i was walking out the door at 3:28 I feel like it was a big waste of time for a 3 min interview especially since I got the dreaded "we will email you" at the end

Interviewed May 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK (took 4 days)
Like everyone said, as soon as I completed the personality assessment online, I got an automated email saying they would like to interview me and gave me a number to call. It was late so I decided I'd call the next day. I got a call from the manager the next day before I could call them. He asked if anyone had been in touch with me yet and wanted to set an interview with me the following Tuesday at 11am. I said that sounded great so that was that.
On Tuesday, I wore a pair of Miss Me jeans (no holes, dark wash), Sperry's, and a white tank undershirt to layer with my nice sequined Crash & Burn shirt (which is also a brand they carry), and I accessorized with a small belt on top of my shirts around my hips, a gold trendy necklace, small gold bangles around my wrists, and hip red knit earrings. I thought I looked Buckle enough.
Well, I got there right at 11am on that Tuesday and the sales associates let the manager know I'm there. They told me to just look around for a few mins. I used that time to make small talk with one of the associates and be friendly, but also to shop around looking at nice shirts. The manager came out and didn't aknowledge me until they told him that I'm here for the interview. Then he took me to the back of the store by the clearance area. He seemed sort of distracted while I was talking and looked elsewhere every so often like he was bored with me.Rude.It lasted 15 minutes and he told me I would get an email within 48 hours saying what the next step is. Since I spent a few days on this site, I know that means I didn't get the job, which bummed me out. I admit I let my nerves interfere a bit, I blanked out on a word once and I sort of stumbled around words but he understood. Oh well, I have an interview with Hollister on Friday!
PS: The store associates were diverse: Asian, African American, White.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Columbus, OH (took a day)
interview experience was very pleasant, the buckle I applied to is in a mall so the interview was held in the food court, the interview lasted about 10-15 min, I was hired (I didn't even have on buckle clothes during the interview) I'm almost done with my training and so far I really enjoy the job!

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Trussville, AL (took 3 days)
I filled out the application online and then the questionnaire, I then received an email saying that I needed to call the store manager to set up a time for an interview. I drove 50 miles for a 30 minute wait and a 5 minute interview. I have read on this website that if you're told after the interview to "check for an email for the next steps in the hiring process" then you're not going to get the job. Well that's exactly what I was told. Why? I have no idea. I answered all questions to the best of my ability and i wore the most expensive outfit that I own from Buckle. Oh Well!

Interviewed May 2012 in Waco, TX (took 2 days)
I applied online through the website, took the personality tests and then received an email instructing me to call the store and set up my interview, which I didn't right then because I didn't want to call the store on the weekend. I hate it when candidates do that to me at my store, so I figured I would wait until Monday.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
The posted job was for the ASM position. I'm a store manager, so it makes sense that if I wanted to move to a new company, I might come in thru an assistant position. Everything in my app and resume indicated this, and when they called me for the interview, they also cited that it was for the ASM position. They told me to come in on Tuesday, which is a ridiculously busy day for me in my industry, so I asked for another day, to which they replied that they only do interviews on Tuesdays, so I made some crazy adjustments in my schedule to manage it.
I met with the store manager, and answered all the questions and then was thanked and told to have a good day. I stopped him and asked if he could answer a few of my questions, the answers of which indicated that no he wasn't interviewing for the full time/hourly position of ASM, but instead, the part time/hourly/commission based Sales Associate position. WHAT A COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME! Why would these people call in management candidates for a part time/hrly/commissioned position? I won't ever apply at this Buckle again, nor will I shop there, because the store is usually a wreck with people standing around all over the place.

Interviewed Mar 2012 (took 2 days)
I applied online and then received an email, telling me to call Buckle to schedule an interview. I called and then had an interview set up the next day. I wear mostly buckle clothes anyways, so I really wasn't worried about how I was dressed (if you don't wear buckle clothes, don't even bother applying there). I got there 5-minutes early, talked to someone and they said "okay give me a minute." So I just looked around; from what other reviews say, I think they were just judging me to see if I would go and look at clothes or talk to any of the other employees there, which I did. 10 minutes later, the same women who I talked to gave me the interview, I didn't know what her job title was but I'm assuming she was an assistant manager. The interview was literally like 5-minutes with basic interview questions. Overall, she was nice to me, and said that she would "shoot me up with and email in about 48hrs" to see if I got the job or not; if they say that, then you don't have the job because nobody sends and email to hire someone. But the only reason I didn't get the job is because I have no job experience what so ever, and they were looking for more experienced people, which I understand. Oh well, it was a good interview experience!

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Spokane, WA (took a day)
I applied online, took an easy personality assessment, received an email telling me to call them for an interview, and scheduled an interview time when I called.
I wore denim short shorts with frayed cuffs, leopard print tights, a suit jacket, a button up shirt, and boot-heels. At the store, it was a little awkward since my interview time was right when they were opening. I looked at men's belts waiting for them to get my information packet.
Both the store manager and hiring manager were present. The store manager asked questions while the hiring manager judged me by my behavior.
The hiring manager commented that by the way I speak I must be very detail oriented. I agreed, and smiled.
At the end, they did not specify whether they will call me or email me (basically, yes or no) because they had THIRTY more people to interview today! I haven't received the email of doom yet, so I guess they might really be considering me.

Interviewed Jan 2012 (took 2 days)
Mostly they're looking for personality. If you have the experience, and you're willing to put in the time, it's definitely a job worth having. The company has been growing steadily for the past ten years. While most businesses are closing stores, Buckle has found a way to continually open about 5 new stores a year. The company does 90% of it's hiring from within so there is absolutely room for growth..

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Pueblo, CO (took 2 days)
She did the interview on the floor in front of all the shoppers. She seemed very uninterested and dismissive and told me immediately that she would "keep my record on file." Later on, a friend of mine heard from the interviewer that I was not attractive enough to work for the buckle.
