I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at The Home Depot in February 2014.

Interview Details

First of all, the HR department at this location (west McKinney) is extremely disorganized. They have acted unaware, twice, that I even had an interview. I set up an interview a second time, many weeks later, for another position due to the fact that the first time around they informed me the position I applied for was no longer available. Then it happened again today. The position I was informed was available and I went to interview for, was not available. Unbelievable. Again, this location is VERY disorganized in their HR dept. and communication is lacking. I am a smart guy, educated and understand the dynamics of dealing with people in HR but this is too much. Have spent thousands of dollars their over the past 5 years as a customer, but that train is coming to the end of the track if this is how they treat you as a potential employee. Not to mention, you get a really bad attitude but that is secondary to the miscommunication.

Interview Questions
  • Asked me if I was experienced in the department I thought I was interviewing for and then after I answered more or less yes, told me it was no longer available! Unbelievable.   View Answer

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at The Home Depot in January 2014.

    Interview Details

The process begins with the prospective employee filling out an online job application. If The Home Depot is interested, you will receive an automated call from The Home Depot Hiring Center. The applicant will be asked a few basic questions and then they will be transferred to a live person to begin the first interview. The applicant is asked three questions, all of which deal with how you would handle specific work related situations... for example, they may ask you to discuss a time in which you were presented with a difficult task and how handled said task. If you pass this first interview process you will receive another call from The Home Depot Hiring Center, this time to set up an interview with a manager at the store which you are applying to. On the day of the interview, you will meet with a manger one on one and they will ask you a series of basic questions about previous work experience and how you might handle specific work situations.

    Interview Questions
    • The questions were not difficult and they were all questions most retail businesses ask. For someone with previous retail experience, especially previous hardware experience, the questions asked during the interview should be relatively easy to answer. For someone who might be looking for their first job the interview questions may be a bit more challenging to answer.   Answer Question
