Interviewed May 2011 in New Braunfels, TX (took 2 weeks)
Had a phone interview, and a one on one interview. Upon the first interview I was required to fill out an application. The interviewer was running late. Immediately following the interview I had to go for a drug test, and didn't hear back until the Thursday before I had to start training.

Dissappointing Experience:
My initial phone screening interview was done by the QA Mgr. She asked me some minor questions for example is is QA and QC the same thing. I answered no, these were two different processes where QA was responsible for the testing process and QC was responsible for the auditing process within the software development life cycle. I was also asked about my experience with waterfall and Agile methodologies and I explained my 9 years experience with both processes and recommendations. The QA manager made a false promised to me saying she should not tell me this, but she wanted me onboard as her selection to be part of her testing group and had the HR mgr set a face to face interview with me between the QA manager, all of her QA team members (a group of 3 QA,) and 3 other managers and the director.
On my face to face I was asked every certification question you can imagine on the QA process which I answered correctly and comfortably; then the three QA analysts asked me questions and I answered theses including informational talk about automation as well giving some insights. I then was given the opportunity to ask questions so I took out my list of questions to do the questions and answer session. Then the QA manager mentioned that she had forgotten to coordinate with the managers and went out to see if she found some of the managers, but only found the PM and he interviewed me. We shared PM agile success stories and all of a sudden the QA mgr mentioned that I had done excellently but she had to see if she had the right candidate and that I had to come for another face to face with the other managers. I never received the additional face to face interview and sent a follow-up email to the HR manager who replied that on the same day she had sent out a notice that another candidate was selected, (which I never received and asked her to kindly send me a copy. The interview process was not well coordinated, the QA mgr made false promises and unless you have lots of experience in the SDLC as I do, you mayf find it easy or difficult. I found it easy but no integrity of character.

Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 2 days)
When I met with the manager to interview me they asked me several personality questions which was fine. However they gave me a very false idea of what commission earning potential was. It was very much like they were trying to sell me on taking the job because if they had told me accurate information it would not have been interesting to me.

There was no negotiation. It is a take it or leave it offer. The manager you interview with will give you a false hope of earning potential through commission.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 2 weeks)
Interviewing with The Scooter Store was an experience like unlike anything I have had before. Interviewed with the third party recruiter who found me briefly via phone. He set up an interview with the internal recruiter who had a list of fairly broad technical questions which took about an hour. A few days later I had a phone interview with the development manager and a senior developer.
Later that day the initial recruiter called and wanted to set up an in person interview. This included a flight to San Antonio, hotel room, and rental car and was scheduled for a few days later. I interviewed on site with QA, Development, Architecture, and Senior Management. I was also given a fairly comprehensive tour of the area by the hiring manager with my wife who joined us for lunch. I received an offer shortly after returning home and accepted a few days later. All in all it was a whirlwind experience and very positive. The environment at The Scooter Store is very upbeat and positive and the culture seems amazing overall.
I believe that this process was effective and that I will be able to contribute to the team quickly and also have plenty of opportunities to learn and grow in my career. Note that I had a competing offer from another company that I turned down for multiple reasons including a lack of knowledge about the company, team, and work environment..

Interviewed Oct 2009 in New Braunfels, TX (took a day)
It took forever to get an interview, but once I did it was a fairly smooth process. The recruiter did a phone interview first then set-up a face to face with the hiring manager. After the face to face I was asked to take an online Excel proficientcy test. It was about a week later before I got a call from them saying that they went with someone else.
