Interviewed Jul 2010 in Valley Forge, PA (took 2 weeks)
First had a phone interview which consisted of very basic questions like prior experience and knowledge of the company. Then invited to malvern campus for a 2 on 1 interview and a case study. Was asked tough questions in the interview that were hard to answer for someone that just graduated college, however, was able to answer all questions except for 1. Then given a relatively simple case study.

Interviewed May 2010 in Malvern, PA (took 2 weeks)
I did a 1:1 interview and a panel interview (3:1), in both sessions I felt like I was interrupting royalty and god forbid these individuals had to sit down with the likes of me.
They asked very vague questions about my past jobs and my current job and all they did was attempt to ask questions while dropping as many buzz words they could. Even when I asked them to clarify their questions I still could not understand what they wanted from me.
I have a friend who referred me who said they’ve been trying to fill the role I interviewed for, for a very long time; I don’t think it’s the candidates they’re bringing in for interviews, I think it’s the interviewees because I know a few other people who interviewed and they are quality candidates who found jobs with other organizations very easily.

Interviewed Jun 2008 in Malvern, PA (took a day)
Interview process was very rigorous. Three back to back interviews with HR manager, Department manager and Hiring Manager. The used STAR format and was basically all behavioral questions. There was one phone interview, and then the one on one interview. Best Advice: Know the star format inside and out and familiarize yourself with off the wall questions.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Malvern, PA (took 3 months)
Vanguard essentially wants a intern who fits with the rest of the employers within the company. Therefore the interview process consists of mostly behavioral questions ranging from easy to extremely difficult. Be prepare to come out with scenarios about what you have accomplished using the STAR method. If you are going to the company for interview, dress conservatively because that is the culture there. There will be a phone interview to screen applicants then if they like you enough they will invite you for interview at their headquarter which consists of 2 one on one interviews and a presentation.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Malvern, PA (took 1 week)
I applied online and received a call the next day. I proceeded to have a 45 phone interview about my work experience, my knowledge about Vanguard, any special skills that I have, and was told what the benefits and salary were for the position. Very friendly interviewers. At the end of the interview I was invited for a 1:1 interview at the Malvern building.

Heavily behavioral focused, especially relative to other interviews in finance. One round of interviews on campus and one round on Vanguard's campus in Valley Forge, PA. Vanguard will pay for your travel expenses, including flight, hotel and car service. Interviewers inquired into other opportunities pursuing as well as thoughts on living in Philadelphia. Interviewed May 2008 in Malvern, PA (took a day)
Behavioral questions primarily. The questions continued well over an hour. I wanted to stop talking for it to end. They seemed more interested in MBAs than PhDs.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Malvern, PA (took 3 days)
Brief telephone introduction/brief Q&A. Scheduled a telephone interview for later that week which lasted approx. 30 min. Was then invited to interview at the Malvern location with about 15 other interviewees. Was given a tour of the campus, sat through an informative presentation, was interviewed by (2) employees, and was provided lunch. Prep for the phone & in-person interview by reviewing the STAR interview process. Emphasis your love for group work and you will be in like Flynt.
