Direct reports seems to be a screening question. To answer the question iwth a number does not get at the depth of the candidates' management experience. Better questions would be to ask about candidates experience with hiring, disciplinary or performance reviews. I had extensive HR experience due to my position and influence. I collaborated with the physician leaders and the nurse managers to work through various HR issues, and make sure that the Institutional policies and procedures were being followed.
