Interview Question for Software Developer at Cosylab:

There's a river, 5 people on one side that want to cross over, and a single boat. Only two people may go into the boat at the same time. Each person needs a different amount of time to cross the river, and the boat always moves with the speed of the slowest person in the boat. How can they cross over in 20 minutes?

There's a faster way (in general but I will apply the times given above), which are:
A = 6 minutes, B = 5 minutes, C = 4 minutes, D = 2 minutes, E = 1 minute
D&E cross = 2 min
E returns = 1 min
A&B cross = 6 min
D returns = 2 min
C&E cross = 4 min
E returns = 1 min
D&E cross = 2 min
Total = 18 minutes, 2 minutes faster than E taking everyone across and returning.

Since the time taken by each individual is not specified, assuming as follows :
Person A takes 6 mins,
Person B takes 5 mins
Person C takes 4 mins,
Person D takes 2 mins
Person E takes 1 min
A & E cross = 6 mins
E returns = 1 min
B & E cross = 5 mins
E returns = 1 min
C & E cross = 4 mins
E returns = 1 min
D & E corss = 2 mins
