Interviewed May 2012 in Minneapolis, MN (took 2 months)
No response from Thrivent after second, in-person, interview. The process took over sixty days, not expected for this opening. The business leaders were helpful in understanding role and company. They did not return calls which I found unprofessional and does not reflect well on company.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Minneapolis, MN (took 3 weeks)
Know that I was an internal candidate. My first interview was with the outgoing Director of facilities, who had been promoted into the supervisor for that area of the company. The first interview was a pointed, yet typical "tell me about a time when....". (there were about 8 candidates who when through round one) After doing well in this interview, I had a second interview via phone with a person who would have been one of the managers reporting to the position I was interviewing for. This consisted of three situational questions where I was to answer "what I would do if". A very simple example of this would be: There is a pipe break above the floor housing the computer center: what are your actions? (there were about 4 people who went through round two). The third interview came a week later with the VP of that area and was a sit down, 1-1 interview again. However, this one was very informal and was a more of a get to know your skills and personality...a more is this person the right fit. (I do not know how many people went through this). A week later I was informed that although a great candidate, they were going to re-post as they were looking for someone who had a bit more specific "real estate/building management/facilities" background than what I had.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 4+ weeks)
I had several interviews. First with the recruiter, then with the person that would be my launch manager, and then with the managing partner. They were very clear that the interview process was as much for me as it was for them, and that they wanted to make sure I thought it over thoroughly and knew what I was in for.

Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 2 weeks)
The interview is pretty easy. Thrivent would rather you be good at customer service than make money. They are really looking for people to be independent and driven. They don't do a good job of accurately explaining the large amout of time and large amount of your own cash needed to make it the business. The recruiters have a good portion of their compensation tied to hiring people, so they are pretty easy to hire someone.

Interviewed Jan 2011 (took 1+ week)
A very good interview with an interesting company. They send along personality and skills test that can be done via e-mail. I met directly with the hiring manager rather than with a recruiter, indeed my entire contact was with a hiring manager. The overall compensation package was reasonable and in line with what should be expected in insurance and financial services.
