Interviewed Feb 2012 (took a day)
I just take the interview on campus, and now they ask me to Boston to take another interview. Two people hold the interview, they are nice guys. They just ask me a question on binary search and ask me to write the binary search program on whiteboard. And another question is about a tree structure, find the shallowest ancestor of two nodes in tree.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Pittsburgh, PA (took a day)
TripAdvisor hiring is rigorous and they would jump to DS and Algo questions rite away from the start.

Interviewed Dec 2010 (took 3 weeks)
I met with a total of 14 people for this management position, over 2 visits - so basically spent almost 2 days there. I met with peers, Sr. Management and team members. Interview questions were fair and focused. I also was asked to fill out an exercise, which comprised of 'what would I do in the first 3 months' in this position, including strategy, planning and execution. This document was reviewed with the interviewers and some folks referred to it during discussion, but there was never any formal review of it. Everyone was very friendly and personable. The only odd thing was that I was there for one lunch hour - which they provided me with lunch - but with no one to eat with...just put me in an interview room alone w/my food. Would have been nice to be able to chat with someone during lunch. After an intense 2 visits, I was feeling good about my prospects, but ultimately did not receive an offer. And also did not receive any feedback what so ever about why I was not hired. Feedback and explanation, whether it's good or bad, should always be given after that much effort.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 7 weeks)
I was contacted via email saying that they decided to progress my application further and if I was still interested I would first have to do an Excel Exercise based on a simple example of one of their SEM Accounts. After that I was contacted in order to schedule a phone screen. This part for me was the most difficult in terms of questions, the person who called was very nice and gave me all the freedom to answer and take my time. After I was asked to go to their London Office and meet with two people and have lunch with two team members who were very nice. I really liked everyone, and the office building is amazing. I thought it went all extremely well. Finally I had video skype interviews with people back in the home office in the States. Again all extremely nice, I enjoyed the process and believed I did really well. Unfortunately by the end I was not offered the position, they wrote me an email thanking me for my interest in trip advisor, and saying the position was already filled. I was disappointed as I thought I overall did pretty well and the last interviewer even said she heard wonderful things about me from the others. Oh well, the process is tough and lengthy so be prepared, study the company, what they do and the job in itself. I would not mind to be considered for a position with them again in the future.

Interviewed May 2011 in Newton, MA (took a day)
Met company employee at university recruiting night.
Stuck around after and handed resume to the employee
Employee boasted about the work culture, laid back easy going etc.
Took resume, and sent email the next day about a phone interview.
Had 1 phone phone interview and it was brief, interviewer was extremely rude, repeatedly told me I didn't know enough because I hadn't taken the class even though I repeatedly answered the questions correctly.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I met with the representative at the career fair. I was contacted the next week for a phone interview. The phone interview consisted of critical thinking puzzles, technical questions and writing code. The interviewer was very neutral and did not offer much help when I got stuck or acknowledged a correct answer. I had to write a function that reversed a string.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Very good experience. Everyone was very nice and accommodating at every stage of the process, even for last-minute reschedulings. The interviews themselves were pretty standard coding questions, not trivial by any measure but not meant to make you look stupid as long as you know your stuff.
All staff members were very willing to talk frankly about life at the company, and overall the whole experience was extremely positive. Definitely very impressed by a company I knew nothing about before I applied.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Newton, MA (took a day)
I was contacted by one of their recruiters who had gotten my resume via my school. We scheduled a phone interview. For my phone interview, I was asked some basic questions about data structures, then asked to write out code implementing an algorithm via an online text editor.
Two hours later, I got an email saying that the company would like to interview me on-site. They paid for me to go out there for the day, and I had three technical interviews, followed by meeting with the technical recruiter, who basically told me that although I have a great theoretical understanding of CS concepts, I didn't solve the problems quickly enough.
He did encourage me to apply again next year though, and I most definitely will. The experience was a lot of fun.

Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Newton, MA (took 3 weeks)
I submitted my resume at a job fair and was contacted via email a few weeks later. I did a couple of phone interviews, where they asked technical questions and had me do a little bit of coding online. Then they flew me to Newton (paid for my food, internet, hotel, etc) and I did three 1:1 interviews. Each of these involved coding on a whiteboard. All pretty standard. Everyone was courteous and very nice, and it seemed like a nice environment.
