Attended the career fair in school and got an on-campus interview next day. Coming up with two questions, the first is to write a binary search and the second is about the lowest common ancestor.

After o campus interview process, they use email to double check several information about me. such as the graduate date, coding preference. After two days, they sent me a email with link of codility to test the codeing skill. That test is ONLY 40 Min long. However, it is not that simple. You need to be careful with the requirements and have a good coding skills at least in one specific language.

The interview process consisted of three skype interviews. In each interview I had to write Java code. The interviews lasted for between 25 - 45 minutes. They want you to talk through your thought process. I found this part hard and is probably the reason I did not get the position. As far as I know I got all the answers correct.

    Interview Questions
    • 1) Tree traversal problem
      2) Island problem - count the number of connected ones in a 2d array, composed of 1's and 0's.
      3) Number of binary ones in a number. They also asked general coding questions e.g. what is OOD and polymorphism.

Dropped off resume at Career fair. Got contacted within 2 business days for a highly technical phone Interview. The interviewer looked very serious, suggesting a very boring working environment. Tried putting on a smile but got replied back with a frown. Questions were highly technical. Little or no personality tests. Tried very hard showing an interest and passion for programming but seems like all of that was ignored. Almost no questions about my personal projects or reference to my resume, which was the strongest part of my application. Only reference to his team and working conditions. My advice: do tons of practice with an actual interviewer. Its a lot harder than it looks.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at TripAdvisor in October 2014.

    Interview Details

The company recruiter contacted me after I handed in my resume at a university job fair. We scheduled a Skype interview with a software engineer. At first, the engineer asked me to describe my former projects. Then he asked a couple of technical questions.

    1. What data structure would you use to store large amounts of phone numbers?
    2. Given a very large text file, how would you extract all phone numbers from the text?
    3. How would you process the text file using a parallel architecture?

Finally, the engineer had given me an opportunity to ask any questions about the company. The interview ended after about 35 minutes of talking. After about 2 weeks I reveived an email explaining they will not continue with my application.

The recruiter, as well as the engineer, were both very nice and helpful. However, I have never heard any feedback from either of them regarding why I am not the right fit for their company. Also, they were not interested in anything else but strictly my technical knowledge about data structures and parallel computing.

I applied through college or university. The process took a dayinterviewed at TripAdvisor in October 2013.

I gave them my resume in a job fair in our university (University of Ottawa) and got an email that evening that they can set up a first interview on-campus the next day. The email suggested that if I don't have time the next day, I can schedule a phone interview later. I went on for the on-campus interview.
The interview was a technical one, and lasted 30 minutes. The interviewer was a developer himself, who had just entered the company 6 months ago.

The recruiter started nothing and asked me to do white board coding directly. The whole interview is not so friendly. When I was writing code, he just worked with his own laptop. I guess they didn't really want to hire someone.
