No background check or reference check conducted. Non-professional attire and surroundings. Processed like cattle on a ranch. Lacked honesty to what job consisted of. Extremely rushed and not professional at all. Was worse interview process I have ever encountered. Could benefit with taking class on proper interview techniques. Office was a complete mess which indicated how store would be as well. No organization .... appeared to have been first interviews conducted ... but actually was just the way they do it.
Amazing this company makes it with such class-less ways of conducting themselves.

I filled out an application in store, and received a call back within a few days. They were having open interviews. mine was one-on-one with the main manager. he looked over my application, and basically just asked about my hours. he might've asked something like "what do you like about discount stores?" or "what do you like about retail?", but he was really looking to fill some positions before their next stock supply came in. he said i had the job and that he'd call me in a few days to schedule my first shift. a week pasted and i never got a call, so i called him and he said that he tried to contact me but couldn't reach me. i guess i wrote down the wrong number, which was my fault, but he was really kind of mean about it. he'd given my job to someone else already, but after the way he spoke to me i felt like i wouldn't really want to work there anyway.

I applied on the computer in the store and a week later received a work schedule. No interview. I wasn't told I was hired, just expected to show up. Kind of strange. There was a background check and you need to completely fill out the application or they won't accept it. References were not contacted.

The interview was very informal and did not include alot of your typical interview questions. The supervisor was looking to get more of a intuition about what type of person you are rather than if you can answer the typical questions. The hiring process included what appeared to be a simple background check and a few simple human resource forms. It was completed with in two days and I was able to start work very quickly. Although this was a new store and there were a lot of new hires, I think the process was handled very well.

Easily negotiated my desired salary, but it was lower than I would have gotten elsewhere. I was looking for a part time job to allow me to spend more time with family so the trade off was worthwhile to me.

Applied online and was then contacted by the Regional Manager and brought in for an interview the next day. The interview was extremely easy. She asked me about my work history and made sure I knew what the job would entail.
This company is not a bad one to work for, but is not for everyone. The store hours are pretty easy, the only exception is that you, as a manager, have to be there at 5:30 in the morning to meet the truck which only happens about every 7-10 days on average.
The store is partially corparate and partially flexible. So there are certain things you have to do by the books, but other things you can put your own touches on. Which worked for me.
I actually new the regional was going to hire me before I left the interview, but they are required to do background checks for everyone before they can hire you, so 2 weeks later I got a call that I was hired. Delayed a bit, because otherwise I would have had to start on Thanksgiving Week.
I'd say if you think the job is for you, just be prepared to do it the Tuesday Morning way instead of regular retail and you'll be okay.

This company was not formal in the interview process. I filled out an application after having sent my resume, I had several years experience and this was not really important in the interview procewss either. Generally they hire inexperienced managers.

I had never been in a Tuesday Morning and I was surprised by the clutter and lack of organization of the store I interviewed in. The woman who interviewed me was a store manager and she was very polite but wasnt very experienced with this process. I can tell that she WORKS but the daytime staffing that the labor forecasts allows was 1 person open to noon or so and only 1 other person works with her from noon to 7pm except on truck days. In my opinion this contributes to the clutter.
The interview itself was a brief explanation of the company and we walked the store for about 10 minutes. I wasnt asked anything more than "tell me about your background". If anything in this review is useful to a potential employee, let it be that you probably wont be asked many thought provoking questions.

nice people, the RM called one day left a message asking me to call back I called back the next day, he was busy at the time asked if he could call back later we agreed upon a time and he called. Very nice and laid back seem to understand what they needed, who they wanted and what the job was about. Very informal, just easy and a normal conversation.

Interview process was very easy. The interview questions were not the personality test type questions. The interviewer was only intrested in my experience and work history. The staff in the store seemed very friendly. The store manager seemed to be very dedicated and loved his job, however I was shocked at the low rate of pay. It appears to me that this company is run on a shoe-string budget and the managers have to do the work of 3 people because as we all know sales buy hours and the managers don't seem to be able to schedule enough hours because it is not in the budget.
