Carrier Sales Interview

Anonymous Employee

I applied through a recruiter and interviewed at U.S. Xpress.

Interview Details – Laid back interview. Talks about expectations, experience and office culture. Good group of guys in the office and expectations are well defined. One of the more positive interview experiences I have had, Just go in relaxed and be yourself. Better candidates will be more knowledgeable and have previous experience. Not very interested in training fresh templates

Intern Interview

Intern
Chicago, IL

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at U.S. Xpress in September 2013.

Interview Details – Initially contacted by email to set up phone interview. Human Resources called me on the date/time of interview and conducted very basic interview. Then set up interview at office with director of operations. Interview went smoothly, director laid out the responsibilities of the job, asked a few questions to gauge knowledge of the industry, and made small talk for a few minutes. Total time was less than thirty minutes. Offered me the job before I left.

Interview Question – N/A. Questions were pretty generic which I expected due to it being an internship. The only tricky questions pertained to industry terms that I was unfamiliar with such as hot loads, lane histories, deadheading, consignee, detention etc.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Everything was negotiated with HR during the phone interview.

Regional Human Resource Generalist Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate

I applied online and the process took 6+ weeks - interviewed at U.S. Xpress in August 2013.

Interview Details – I received a phone call from a manager of employee relations from this company who proceeded to give me a phone screen for the regional hr position. The interview questions she asked had a lot to do with my knowledge of basic hr practices. She asked questions like how would you respond if someone came into your office and asked that the conversation be kept completely confidential? She also asked if I had any extreme experience in ADA situations. After the phone screen she invited me in to interview with her director of HR and the operations manager at a facility in ohio. When I arrived at the company, the director greeted me at the door but did not shake my hand because she had a cold. After the interview I was given a tour of the facility and upon goodbyes still no hand shake (which I appreciated) but she also could not provide me with a business card or any type of contact information where she could be reached.

Dallas, TX

I applied online - interviewed at U.S. Xpress in September 2013.

Interview Details – Interview process was 4 days, there back ground check software was faulty was spitting out false information that then the new hired had to contact different state agencies and give letters stating the information is incorrect, recruiting staff and company truck ing planner and orientation staff not on same page as to company policies, was told ok to bring animal only to find out i could not and was lied to by all staff in orientation and recruiter. I was hired but turned down the position after reading online about dissatified poeple in there company and previous drivers and the whole idea of being lied to so bad up front leaves a bad taste in my mouth to be honest

Interview Question – had to prove there background system check was messed up and call multiple state agencies for proof and all dol and dmv divisions i called said they are wrong.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Do not work for companies that don't seem to have there act together sho me once shame on me shoo me twice shame on you.

Class A Truck Driver Interview

Class A Truck Driver

I applied online and interviewed at U.S. Xpress.

Interview Details – Called recruiting department, got approved for orientation. Went through 3 day orientation, requires physical exam, including, but not limited to: duck walk, ladder climb, weight carrying, push and pull test. New drivers must then go out with a trainer and pass training exams and driving tests before final hire, experienced drivers may occasionally require shorter outings with a trainer to verify that they are still able to drive a truck.

Interview Question – Will investigate accidents, CSA violations, criminal record. Used to be VERY picky with drivers, but seem to be getting a little more lax.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation.
