    Interview

I applied and was hired. If you apply and have a cdl you are hired no matter how bad your dak or cas is thats honesty. They barely drug test you and run background check. They dont really care who they put in a truck and they will treat you like crap when they do anyways

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 daysinterviewed at U.S. Xpress in November 2014.

    Interview

3 Day Orientation. If you're relocating and bring a spouse plan to pay for hotel. I paid 75 for 1st 3 days. Some recruiters may help with hotel stay. After orientation you wait to be officially "hired". That can take as many days as they need. You'll sit in the terminal from 8AM- 5PM everyday until hired or sent home. You'll pay for your rider's/ spouse's bus ticket. Can be a very long process. If hired you're paid for $50 a day for orientation and days you waited to be hired. If you're a recent grad they will bus you to your trainer or trainer will meet you there. You might test out on an automatic. There is no assigned tester; the person testing you will be a driver that meets their qualifications.

    Negotiation

Long, pay was confusing and not explained

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at U.S. Xpress (Chattanooga, TN).

    Interview

Discussed my education, work experience and skills. The person interviewing me was disinterested and not knowledgeable about the position we were discussion. I met with the HR representative, department manager and director of the IT Division. The only person that seemed capable of discussing the position was the HR representative.

    Interview Questions

    • I asked what the advancement opportunities were available and the response I received was..."Advancement is based on the open positions at the time you want to advance." Needless to say, the response to my question was a prediction of the way things are at US Xpress. That was the most difficult question.   1 Answer

    Reasons for Declining

    I requested a higher salary.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at U.S. Xpress (Chattanooga, TN).

    Interview

Submit resume online, 20 minute phone screening, inconsistent follow-up. Very nice internal recruiters. Standard behavioral based interview with hiring managers and possibly a director. You will not know who will be in the interview, as they do not use meeting requests at this level.

I applied through a recruiter – interviewed at U.S. Xpress.

    Interview

Laid back interview. Talks about expectations, experience and office culture. Good group of guys in the office and expectations are well defined. One of the more positive interview experiences I have had, Just go in relaxed and be yourself. Better candidates will be more knowledgeable and have previous experience. Not very interested in training fresh templates

    Intern Interview

    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at U.S. Xpress (Chicago, IL) in September 2013.

    Interview

Initially contacted by email to set up phone interview. Human Resources called me on the date/time of interview and conducted very basic interview. Then set up interview at office with director of operations. Interview went smoothly, director laid out the responsibilities of the job, asked a few questions to gauge knowledge of the industry, and made small talk for a few minutes. Total time was less than thirty minutes. Offered me the job before I left.

    Interview Questions

    • N/A. Questions were pretty generic which I expected due to it being an internship. The only tricky questions pertained to industry terms that I was unfamiliar with such as hot loads, lane histories, deadheading, consignee, detention etc.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Everything was negotiated with HR during the phone interview.
