Graduate Student Interview

I applied online and interviewed at UBC.

Interview Details – The TELUS TLDP interviewees were very inexperienced, all of them were only about 1.5 ~ 2 years old in TLDP program. I had never have experienced such a unseasoned interviewees because typically you would expect a director or a senior manager involved during new graduate hire process so I found this to be very awkward.

Interview Question – Not technically difficult but I think all you need is good luck   Answer Question

Graduate Student Researcher Interview

Graduate Student Researcher
Vancouver, BC (Canada)

I applied in-person and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at UBC in April 2011.

Interview Details – Well, when the professor checked my resume, he sent me a email to ask for a interview. I think the most important thing is that his lab really need people. I prepared the material to introduce what kind of research I did last year in details. It's not really related to what he wanted me to do in the future, however, it's important to show you can do the work and you can learn.

Interview Question – He asked me if I learned quantum mechanics before, which was quite impossible for undergraduate students.   View Answer

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at UBC in May 2013.

You will need to read and research a lot on the target company to make sure that you understand the industry and the company well. The interviewer will provide some background information on the target company.

Interview Question – Be ready to explain why you got low scores on some of the courses that you didn't do well in school.   Answer Question
