Interviewed May 2012 (took 2 days)
Sent email to professor indicating interest in their work. Received reply a few days later asking to discuss the position in person. First meeting was 1:1 interview with professor highlighting responsibilities of the position and a couple questions regarding previous laboratory experience (what did I like/dislike?). Professor asked about career goals and interests as well. Interview ended in approximately 40 minutes with no offer, but was told I would know within a week.
Next interview started with meeting lab manager and other research associates in the lab, and ended with a short meeting with the professor. Position was then officially offered and accepted. This took around 1.5 hours total.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took a day)
The first in-person job interview is typically a one-on-one interview between the applicant and a hiring manager. The interviewer will ask questions about the applicant's experience and skills, work history, availability, and the qualifications the company is seeking in the optimal candidate for the job.

Interviewed May 2010 in San Francisco, CA (took a day)
I have gone on many interviews at UCSF, and most of the time, the position is already filled by an internal candidate, and the people interviewing you are just trying to meet a required quota of people to meet with before they can go ahead and offer the position to someone that they have in mind. This was incredibly frustrating, because you are basically wasting your time; some of the interviewers were kind enough to let me know what was going on. Please ask if the interviewer already has a candidate in mind for the position before taking a lot of time and energy to interview for the position.

Interviewed Dec 2011 (took a day)
I was referred by an employee for the position and contacted for a panel interview. Half the people who were supposed to be on the panel did now show up. The rest were asking simple easy questions about my background. The interviewers were very friendly. They were looking for someone with experience in a particular speciality and it was obvious just from my resume that I had not worked in that speciality previously. It was a waste of time for me and for them. I did get the standard email of "we will get back to you" but I did not receive an offer

Interviewed Dec 2011 in San Francisco, CA (took 1 week)
THE UCSF was difficult for me mainly because I am new to the health field. They were really looking for an individual with at least a year of experience. Even though this was an entry level position. The culture of the hospital is very professional and I thought the person who interviewed was very professional and extremely nice. This hospital is extremely busy and fast past in comparison to many other hospital in the bay area.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in San Francisco, CA (took 1+ week)
I applied online for a position at UCSF and then got a call from them for an onsite interview. I was surprized they did not take any telephonic screening.
The organization is an academic one. Supervisors are flexible and professional. As long as the work is done no one cares about how long or from what to what time have you been there in the office.
Mostly standard interview questios were askd so be prepared with all standard interview questions!
I could not clear the interview since they got someone with more IND experience and I had more experience on the device side (510k)
