Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 2 weeks)
I found the job on a job site. A preliminary interview led to a panel interview that was on site. The panel interview did not appear to be tailored to the job description itself. The interviewers were also rather condescending, although I felt more knowledgeable than both. Overall, I left the interview confused and with a negative image of the company.

I very much enjoyed the interviewing style of the manager I talked to. She told me all the good stuff, but thenalso told me what the downfalls of the position and asked howI would cope with a bad situation. She as honest and helpful at the same time. I still seethe interviewer frequesntly at my job and appreciate all she did.

You submit an application online, then I got called the next day....then they set up an interview 3 days later I went in got an offer, accepted, went in a week later for a drug test and blood drawn, tb test, and face nask fitting....a day later I started orientation! Everyone was very polite and willing to let me pick a day for all things that had to be done....the office was tiny but the people were very nice. I'd tell people to be prepared to sell yourself, pretty much the whole what can you do for them ordeal!

I felt very comfortable. They asked questions that many HR representatives do such as, why UPMC? Are you planning on advancing throughout the company? Have you been to school for anything? If so, how do you feel that will affect your job here? Why should we hire you? Tell us about previous work experiences. How long were you at your last job? Why did you leave?

Be very honest with your intentions with the company. Let them know of any planned vacations. Or any school you may attend so that they are not falsely led on by you when later you tell them you are not available at times. They were very willing to work with me.
