Not difficult - I was applying after serving on active duty. The organization I was applying to looked at my last 3 OERs. It was that easy.

I applied online – interviewed at US National Guard in January 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied online for a position as instructor to at risk teens, a program funded by the National Guard. After an online application I waited six months for a call back, was called and an in person interview was scheduled. The interview consisted of sitting in a room with three interviewers while they asked questions (what would you do if....etc.). Also had to fill out background check paperwork. Was offered the position two weeks after interview, to start work in another two months.

    Interview Questions
    • What is the importance of community service and how would you teach this to teens?   Answer Question
    Reasons for Declining

Pay was minimal, down time between applying and when work started was 8 months. Other offers came up.

There is no official interview process. Depending upon the route you take to become an officer: OCS, ROTC, Academy, you are evaluated constantly and officially when put into a leadership role by TAC officers & TAC NCO's. You must complete and pass all training requirements to commission and upon becoming a 2LT, you branch. After branching, you are assigned to a unit and they determine what position you will hold. Outstanding performance in you OCS or ROTC class may help you get a preferred slot in a unit.

    Interview Questions
    • There are none... the whole process prior to commissioning is the hard part...   Answer Question

there is no interview process just an exam to see if you qualify for the position. You must take the ASVAB and get a score higher than 60% to apply for the position. You can retake the exam again if necessary. The training is approximately four months and and boot camp is 2 months. Training overall was hard but it was doable.

Very disorganized, no matter what they tell you usajobs and the interview process is just a dog and pony show. They already know who they are going to hire before they even post the job. If you don't already know you have the job before you apply, the likelihood of you getting the job is very slim.

    Interview Questions
    • Watch out for questions with new systems and pay attention to what the "frontrunner" is being told and study that.   Answer Question
