Interviewed Aug 2010 in Phoenix, AZ (took a day)
Very simple phone interview lasted about an hour. Then a face-to-face interview that lasted about an hour.
It is very important to go in with a focus to serve the military and how important it is. Remember this is also and insurance company. At the end of the interview they will ask to you sell them an item. Resolve the doubt and then re-recommend the product to the person.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took 3 days)
Very tough interview process. Questions are predictable for the position, but the interviewers gave no feedback or expressions so it was impossible to tell whether I was doing well or not. Very professional as expected, but the long wait time and lack of feedback make it hard to know how well I did.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Phoenix, AZ (took 4+ weeks)
I was first instructed to take an online test, which was math and logic based, and harder than most. I was then contacted for a phone interview, which took about 45 minutes. Then I was called in for a face to face interview which lasted about 45 minutes as well. Both were with very courteous and professional interviewers.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took 1 week)
I had my phone interview which went well, at which point they asked me the complete a drug test and a background check. They also set up a face to face interview for my and the two hiring managers for the department. The face to face interview went pretty well as far as I knew, it lasted about 45 to 50 minutes. I left and got an email the next day just saying they were pursuing other candidates. I was pretty upset about it considering I felt like I had all of the qualifications and more, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took 2 weeks)
I set up a profile on the USAA career center and applied online. Four days later I received an email to complete two assessments within 48 hours. They were unique and took at least an hour to submit. One assessment included answering solutions to math, grammar, organization, personality and the other was an inbound call simulation. I received an email the next day with my phone interview (date, time, contact) which was to take place the following week. The phone interview was a very important step, and she let me know right away I was going forward. I initiated a background check, submitted a UA, and next day, visited on campus for a face-to-face interview with a hiring manager from the department I applied for. Later that day, I was emailed that, based on my interviews, I would be selected for employment when my prescreening results came back acceptable. A week later I got the official call with my start date! There were about 3-4 people walking me through the process the entire time and really made the experience worthwhile.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took 2 days)
I applied online through their website and then I received an email from a recruiter asking me to take a skills test/behavioral test online. After I completed that, I received another email from a recruiter with a date and time of when my phone interview would be and with who. After the phone interview, she recommended me for the next step in the process which was an in-person interview with 2 hiring managers. The in-person hiring managers didn't seem very cordial, and didn't seem that they liked working there. I wasn't too sure, because I was nervous from the interview. After they would ask me a question and I gave an answer, they would drill down again and ask me another question based off my answer. There was a lot of drilling down.

First USAA starts with a phone screen to ask you some basic questions about your interests, goals, and experience. The second call will be behavior based interview questions with a manager. They will bring you in for a face to face interview and then a job offer over the phone a few days later.
