Interviewed Apr 2012 in New York, NY (took a day)
They have you waiting inside the break room until the other candidates arrive. Then you follow the HR managers to the Interveiw room. You have to get up in front of everybody and tell a little about yourself and why should they hire you. Then you get your 1 on 1 with the managers. They then say if you don't hear from them within 24hrs then you don't have the job. But they let everybody else but 3 of us go..she left us inside the room and then came back and said we had the job and she's just waiting on the background check Nd she will call us or Email us.

Interviewed Mar 2012 (took a day)
The interview process for the MIT position was much more intense than I would have thought. First we were screened at the job fair, then we had an all day group interview, then an online interview, then another in-person group interview, and finally an interview in their NY headquarters. Know your information about UNIQLO, and also that they believe you do not "create when comfortable" so there are some slightly uncomfortable questions that you might expect more from a consulting firm. Good interviewing experience because it made my other interviews with different companies feel like a breeze.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in New York, NY (took 2 days)
The hiring process is different now, however the questions are primarily the same. You will have to communicate a desire to work very hard and to bring the highest standards you can to the store. You will always be pushed to your limits at the job, so you must be convincing and honest when you are interviewed. Be sure to smile and be honest; you should get it. Keep in mind that this company is growing fast so there is a lot more competition for a job here now.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in New York, NY (took 2 days)
I applied for a listing on Career Builder and was contacted by a non-uniqlo recruiter regarding the position. They did two initial screen interviews and then set up my interview with the company. I flew to New York for my first two interviews (conducted in one day). There was a presentation about the company followed by a Q&A session, and then the group interviews began. My group of 5-6 went first and we were mainly asked questions about our background, customer service skills and leadership experiences. After the interview the HR team member that conducted the interview asked me to stay and thanked everyone else for their time. I then waited for about 1 1/2 hours for the second interview (3 of us out of the 30 made it, it's a very tough interview) and had a final interview for the day with the COO. The next day my recruiter contacted me and informed me that I had made it through to the final interview. I was flown to NYC again and had an individual interview with the CEO and an executive from Japan. The interview was conducted via translator. I received my offer letter approximately two days later.
ADVICE FOR THE INTERVIEW:
- Arrive EARLY and sit in the front
- Dress conservatively and with taste... at my interview there were some girls that looked like they were going to a club... not interviewing with a CEO.
- Research the company before attending the interview and prepare questions that demonstrate that you have done so.
- Research the company so that you understand what they are looking for and what they value and relate your answers to those things vs. "retail knowledge". I had no background in retail but I found relevant ways to relate the things I had done to what Uniqlo wanted.
- SMILE. THE. WHOLE. TIME. Uniqlo is all about smiling.
- Do not get thrown off by any math related questions. They don't want to see that you can add, they want to see that you can work collaboratively with others and think logically.
ADVICE FOR THOSE CONSIDERING A CAREER WITH UNIQLO:
- The MIT program is NOT a guarantee and not for everyone. Of the 50 people they originally hired with me, 20 or so remained at the end.
- Mentally prepare to have your ego taken down a notch. Japanese culture does not ascribe to the "everyone's a winner!!" mindset the way American culture does.
- THIS IS RETAIL. Yes, you can move up rapidly and this job is a hell of a start to a career in the fashion retailing industry, but it is still retail. You will work long/unpredictable/no weekends style hours.
- The MIT program may not be the best route for career advancement for everyone. If you are not about "playing the game" or competing with others, this program probably isn't for you because it is very high stress, very competitive and at times there is a lot of drama.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in New York, NY (took 3 days)
I was recruited. The recruiter gave me a phone interview, and decided i should move forward for the interview. I was told to be early because they favored timely people. Good thing because we were interviewed in the order we came in. We watched some videos and were given a lecture on the company. We were then asked questions about the vide. The group was about 40 people we were interviewed 5 at a time. we went around asking about customer service and leadership. we were then brought back to the room and two minutes later another person came in and called my name and the other person from the 5 who were chosen for the next interview "everyone else, thank you for your time". How embarassing! so we then interviewed with one of the japanese expats, who barely spoke english, who gave us a math test, and asked us basically all of the same questions that the HR generalist asked us in the interview. We were then walked out of the office.
Be EARLY! Definitely keep a smile on your face. Pay attention to the videos and lecutres, take notes if you can. Be really really positive about everything.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
I went to the open house in november, when I got there, there were approximately 300+ people already there waiting to be interviewed. They assigned you a number and told you to fill out the job applicantion. After that we basically just stay there in the lobby (since there were not enough seats) waiting to be called. Finally after 3 hours of waiting, I got called in with 5 other people for a group interview.
Our first interviewer was very laid back, that 20 minutes or so interview fell like a breeze. Then immediately after the first interview, 2 interviewees were told to go home and wait for the news. So, 4 of us went to see a second interviewer. Basically the 2nd interviewer asked the same variations of questions of that 1st interviewer. After 10 minutes, we got sent home and told to wait for the call.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
They showed us the company's video for about half an hour, and asked us the questions. The lady on the corner keeps checking on us to see who is smiling and suitable for the job. We are given the numbers in the end, and those who wasn't called had to go home.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took a day)
Sat about 50 of us in a room and had a presentation about the company. They asked a few questions about customer service and what we knew about the company and we had to raise our hands to answer. Afterward, they selected about 10 people from the group for a second round of interviews.
