Getting an Interview
PhD Researcher Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through college or university and the process took 1 week - interviewed at University of Nottingham in June 2010.
Interview Details – It was pretty simple as I was a student here and was recommended for the position by my Professors. They then submitted my resume to the Professor that I would be doing research with and then was asked to meet with him soon after.

I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at University of Nottingham.
Interview Details – Application and interview.
Interview was over the telephone and asked questions such as motivation for working in fundraising and what qualities are possessed that would help. Also asked for experience. Had to also do a role play as if ringing up an alumni and trying to create a donation.
Interview Question – Role play was hardest section as very unexpected - try to talk to them about their experiences at the uni and remind them of the amazing time they had before asking for money! Answer Question
Administration Interview (Negative Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at University of Nottingham.
Interview Details – Interview focussed on desirable qualities not essential, not given chance to talk about my skills etc, felt that were not interested in me from the outset, in fact one of the panel was snappy and a little aggressive towards me, left the interview knowing that I would not get an offer as I feel that already had a candidate in mind (probably and internal) But have to say if that is how your line manager behaves at an interview I would not want to work for them.
In comparison if you want to work at a UNI, Nottingham Trent pays about 4K better for same admin roles.
Interview Question – What would I write in a booklet about tuition fees Answer Question
