Interviewed Mar 2012 in Livonia, MI (took 2 weeks)
Applied through their website, got contacted for an interview 5 days after I applied. The first interview was with a senior HR rep and it was purely based on my resume. She went through each of my experiences one by one and asked what I liked and what I disliked about each position. Then I received an email saying I got a second interview with a VP (who will be my direct manager during the internship), and this one was purely behavioral.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Livonia, MI (took 5 days)
Contacted by HR for phone screen via email and phone call; went over everything on my resume including minor details. HR asked some personal questions that were a bit surprising. Was scheduled next day for 1:1 with another HR member for phone-based personality and behavior test and to re-review my experience and resume (about 30 minutes). Took final interview in group/panel style over phone with hiring manager and team for 1 hour. At the beginning of the group/panel interview, the team lead and hiring manager assured me that they were not trying to "interrogate" me so I shouldn't feel that way, which I found a little odd for someone to say. The group seemed uncertain or unprepared with interview questions and in answering questions, but did the best they could. Received feedback after 3 business days in an email. Over all, the process was fast, but the depth and detailed nature of many of the questions made the company seem as if they have a culture of scrutinizing and interrogating rather than trying to create what they stated would be an "easy-going and casual environment where people wear jeans".

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Livonia, MI (took 4+ weeks)
I first met a recruiter at my college career fair. I was contacted a couple weeks later requesting a phone interview. During this interview she asked me why I was interested in my major (marketing), why I would be a good fit for Valassis, my skills I was good at, what I my weaknesses were, and a few other similar questions. At the end of this conversation (that lasted about a half hour), she asked if I would be interested in coming in for a second interview at their headquarters in Livonia. I went in a couple weeks later and met with the head of HR. She asked me several situational questions including "When was a time you had a conflict with a boss?", "How did you solve a complex problem", etc. She then took me on a tour of the office and thanked me for coming. I found out within two weeks that I got the job.
