Producer Interview

Producer
New York, NY

I applied in-person and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Viacom in September 2008.

Interview Details – You'll interview with the executive producer or creative director. They'll check out your resume but your reel of work and personal interview will be much more important. The best way to get in the door is through first doing freelance work, which is often pretty minimal on the interview side of things. The biggest obstacle is the natural inclination of management, due to being very busy with work, to seek out people within their circle of contacts and references. Doing a wide talent search is a lot of work. Do everything you can connect with the people who'll be hiring.

Also... human resources is basically worthless for getting a creative job.

Interview Question – I really don't know what's going to be difficult about an interview question. Just be honest and confident without cocky or too self-absorbed.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Negotiation is possible, so don't assume you can't.
