No Offer – Interviewed in Battle Creek, MI Mar 2012 – Reviewed Mar 12, 2012
Interview Details –
I called before I went in for an application and the Category Manager told me to come on in. So I did.
I took the app with me and brought it back within an hour or so. When I dropped it off she had me fill out one more personal reference. They don't want you leaving any area on the application empty. If it has space for 4 past jobs and you only have 3 then you want to put a personal or professional reference in the empty space. As I was filling that out we chatted a little. She saw my past job was fast food (I'm just now 18) and she told me that happened to be her first job as well when she was in High School. Which I thought was great we had that in common since I don't have retail experience. (but I'm willing, ready, and able to learn)
I called about a week later to give her my updated contact info.
I called a week after that to check up on the status of my application and she told me she would call me in about a week for an interview.
And she did.
My interview was on 03/09/12
It was a group interview but only with the Manager and with one other person that applied.
The Manager said she really didn't like group interviews too much. She felt they are impersonal.
We had a great time. We were all laughing and sharing experiences. It was one of the best interviews I've had.
I was sure to wear all black and look professional because I knew that was the dress code. (went shopping at TJX the night before for an outfit)
I wrote down all the interview questions from this website ("glassdoor")and wrote them all down. Answered them and talked them over with another person so I could feel prepared and confident!
The other girl being interviewed knew two of the past sales associates who the Manager adored and she also had retail experience at Guess outlet.
The interview was very conversation like and not nerve wrecking like most 1:1 interviews I've been on. The Manager had a very bubbly personality and so did the other interviewee.
At the end the other interviewee told me it was one of the best interviews she'd been on and I agreed.
I won't know if I got the job till 03/16/12
Hope I get it!
I'm very excited!
