Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Greenville, NC Dec 2011 – Reviewed Jun 25, 2012
Interview Details – A recruiter contacted me to gauge my interest in the position I applied for. He scheduled a time that I could come in a meet with a peer interview team. I completed some background check forms that were emailed to me. I brought them to the interview and gave them to the receptionist. I met with a team that included other assistants, recruiters, and the HRIS specialist. They asked behavioral based questions and the itnerview lasted about 30 minutes. It was fairly informal and the group was welcoming. We met in the conference room. I was called back within 20 minutes and asked to interview for the full time position. I came back two days later and interviewed with two recruiters who needed a full-time assistant. It was again fairly informal and in one of the recruiter's office. They too asked behavioral based questions and we met for about 45 minutes. A day later (Friday, I believe) I received an email asking for my references. They used a tool called Skill Survey where I entered 5 references and their emails and submitted my list. The references then received an email from Skill Survey and filled out a survey based on my skills. Monday I was called and given an offer. All offers are contingent upon successfully clearing the reference check, the criminal background check, and an occupational health screening that includes vision, basic wellness, and a drug screening. Some positions have to do a lift test, but I did not.
Interview Question – The questions were all standard. Nothing surprising or difficult. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There is no negotiation. Salaries and rates are based on the market and internal equity. Because of internal equity, compensation will not stray from the number that an applicant is offered. Unless of course you are fairly high up in management. Then, I believe it is a completely different case.

Interview Details – I wanted to put this as a note in this section. A recruiter called me and left a message saying I was invited for an interview and to call her back. I called her back and had to leave her a voicemail as well. She never returned my call nor tried to reach me again. I checked the application status online and apparently the department changed their mind. That is okay to do. I would have at least appreciated a call to let me know that this had happened. It seemed a little unprofessional to me and it also makes me evaluate how much I really want to work for a company that makes a candidate feel devalued. I will apply for other positions, but if this happens again I might look elsewhere despite Vidant being the largest employer in Greenville.
