Interviewed Sep 2011 (took a day)
I applied online for a temp position with VA Tech's extension services (not sure of the name - wasn't actually at VA Tech). It was about a one year position. I was contacted by the hiring manager for a phone interview via email. I set it up and the phone call lasted about 45 mins. He went over my resume and asked his standard questions he asked everyone. I think there were 8. Some were easy - tell me about yourself, would you be okay with a temporary job etc? Others were harder with a long situational story and how you would approach the problem. He told me I did well and answered them as he expected. Still. I didn't get the job.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Blacksburg, VA (took a day)
I was called in for an interview after completing an online application. They paid for my travel and hotel room. I interviewed with 3 panels in one day, each one for an hour with a 15 minute break in between. I then interviewed one-on-one with the director of the office. This process varies, depending on which department you are interviewing with. I also completed an editing test.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Blacksburg, VA (took a day)
Difficult to interview on the phone with an interview panel. On-site interview was challenging. Good format with introduction to supervisor and exit interview with supervisor. The time delay between applying and being selected to interview was WAYYY to long.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in San Diego, CA (took 2 months)
I was interviewed for the digital design interview position at qualcomm. I have very relvant research experience and I had two rounds of phone inteviews. The inteviewer seemed to be very impressed with my performance and ask most of generic ASIC design and integration and VLSI questions/ synopsys design flow etc. However, I was kept on hold for long time and finally dint get offer.

Interviewed Feb 2008 in Blacksburg, VA (took a day)
The interview went smoothly. Most of the stuff was technical such as if you have ____ problem how would you solve it. The other technical questions were very basic which was surprising. They just seemed to skirt the subject of computer repair instead of dive deeply into them.
It took a few weeks for them to get back to me and offer a position. Of course I accepted. The pay wasn't bad for an undergrad position but it didn't come with any benefits either. Unfortunately the position no longer exists because they've consolidated all computer support to the 4Help desk.

Interviewed Sep 2008 in Blacksburg, VA (took 3 weeks)
The process was pretty fast, given that the university has to follow state policies. There was a 3 person interview committee that gave a recommendation to the hiring manager.

Interviewed May 2008 (took a day)
It really just a typical GRA interview where you directly meet the professor that you'll be working with for the next year or two. Unlike industry-style interviews, interviews in the academia tends to be less technical and they will only verify a few items in your resume as this is the single most important part of the application process. Professors select persons purely based on what they have accomplished (projects, publications) and where they come from (where did they received their degrees and how good the institute is.)

Interviewed Sep 2009 (took 2 days)
the interview started with a seminar that I gave, then there were 7 one-a-one interviews of 45-50 mins each. I spent a lot of time with the people at the company, they asked me about my studies, past experience.
People seems to be very friendly and supporting.
