Senior Software Engineer at Visa Inc.

Declined Offer – Reviewed Jun 12, 2013 New

Interview Details – Fairly easy-going but you can tell that they outsourced the heck out of everything. You have to call the travel agency yourself to book your travel using information they provide you. Reimbursement expenses are a *real* hassle too: they send you a prepaid Visa card that is a pain to activate and it will take them months to reimburse you. I guess in a passive-aggressive way, this ensures that you don't spend too much when interviewing there.

Interview Questions

  • Describe how OAuth works.   Answer Question
  • Given an array of integers, return an array where each respective location contains the product of the numbers except the one that occupied this same location in the input array. Thus, given in={1,2,3}, out={6,3,2}.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Offer was not good.

Business Leader at Visa Inc.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Austin, TX – Reviewed Apr 4, 2013

Interview Details – Applied for job and was contacted by HR soon after. The HR person set up a phone interview with the multiple people including the hiring manager.

Interview was average/difficult overall. Job was offered and position accepted. But it was not what was explained or expected. And pay was barely comparible. Reconsidered acceptance.

Interview Question – Why do you want to work at Visa?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Pay and job not to expectations

Staff Software Engineer at Visa Inc.

Accepted Offer – Reviewed Apr 1, 2013

Interview Details – I was contacted by a recruiter who saw my profile on LinkedIn and asked for a resume. The recruiter set up a phone interview one week later with 3 software engineers and a "Sr. Business Leader". The interview was very short (~20 minutes) and included a few technical questions. After answering some general questions about my experience, I was asked how comfortable I was with C++. It was a pretty good experience but two of the interviewers had thick Indian accents which I often struggled with. Also, I didn't get a chance to ask any of my own questions (of which I had many), which was a bummer. This was the first of at least two interviews, but I was given an offer after only the phone interview because I was able to answer the technical questions.

Interview Questions

Negotiation Details – I am currently negotiating.
