Interviewed Sep 2009 in Houston, TX (took 2 weeks)
The interview consisted of a phone call which was followed by a 1 on 1 interview where I was asked a number of questions. It was a long interview and they will ask you about your strengths and weaknesses as well as what you are looking to get out of the job and why you decided to apply for Walgreens.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Houston, TX (took 1 week)
I was contacted by an Assistant Store Manager to come in for an interview. The interview was pleasant enough. However, it was apparent that the interviewer had not looked over my application and resume because she wanted to offer me a position starting at $7.50 an hour with over 10 experience in retail as an Assistant Store Manager.
During the questioning she realized my retail experience and said she would not feel comfortable with me taking the position because I was overqualified for the part-time position she was trying to hire for. I told her I felt the same way and would not be taking the position. She then asked why I had not applied for a management position and I told her I had. She asked if I would mind if she passed an application on to a hiring manager for a possible Assistant Manager position. I told her that would be great and THANKS!

First, you have to apply online so don't even go into the store. After that,if you qualify, you should get a call from the store manager. He/she will tell you to come in for an interview and ask you about your experience, what your last job was, what things you did, and things to that extent. If you are a good candidate, then they will have you take a skills assessment test on the store computer. Then, the manager will send you off to get a drug test. The second call in seals the deal.

Negotiation Details
My advice to the people considering an offer is that everything is negotiable.
