Cashier at Walgreens

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Anaheim, CA – Reviewed May 23, 2013 New

Interview Details – I applied online to multiple locations, completed an in store qualification/skills test and my nearest Walgreens. I was called in for an interview at another location, but I didn't mind the couple mile commute. I arrived early, and the interview started on time. The manager was friendly, yet professional. She asked questions about my previous work experiences and my reasons for choosing Walgreens. I prepared by writing out three true stories about my previous job which covered a variety of common interviewer questions. I was told that I would be contacted within two weeks but instead received a call and job offer the next day! :)

Interview Question – Pretty common questions like: What would you do if you saw someone stealing from the company? or What is your greatest strength/weakness?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation, this was an entry level position.

Sales Clerk at Walgreens

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Apple Valley, CA – Reviewed May 21, 2013 New

Interview Details – Applied online to two different stores; If your application is good and well, you're told to do an assessment in the store you'd like to work at. I was called for an interview about a week later although I was told they weren't hiring when I went in store to check on my application status. I had one interview and it was very basic. They do a urine drug test and background check which takes about a week to process. I was offered the job about 3 days after my interview.

Interview Question – General questions like availability, previous experience, etc.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I was called and offered $8.50.

Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens

Accepted Offer – Reviewed May 17, 2013 New

Interview Details – I called at the perfect time. I got an interview the next day, and was offered the job immediately following the interview. Not to mention I'm good with people, but the interview seemed easy-peasy

Interview Question – What is the biggest asset you can provide for this pharmacy?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There is no negotiation available for pay. I have 5 years experience, but was forced to take the starting pay equivalent to someone with no experience. That was disappointing, but hey, it's a job.

Sales Associate at Walgreens

Accepted Offer – Reviewed May 12, 2013 New

Interview Details – Interviewed online and was called about two weeks later. Went in for the interview and it was pretty easy. All I was asked about was what I was doing in school, where I wanted to be in about five years, and why I chose Walgreens. Took a skills test which took about two days and was officially hired.

Service Clerk at Walgreens

No Offer – Interviewed in Austin, TX May 2013 – Reviewed May 4, 2013

Interview Details – (I'm a 16 year old sophomore)
First, I filled out an online application which took about 30 minutes. After completing all of the information, I was instructed to fill out the second half, a "Skills Assessment", at one of their stores at my earliest convenience.
The next afternoon I stopped in at the store and told the cashier that I was there to complete a job application. She called the manager and I repeated why I was there. The manager asked if I was 18, and I explained that according to the application 16 was the minimum age for every department except for photos. She then seated me at a monitor behind the counter where I logged in to my active application using my SSN (if you don't have it memorized be sure to have it with you) and started the Skills Assessment.
The first half consisted of multiple choice "what would you do if..." questions. The second half was questions containing a picture of a price along with an assortment of bills and coins. The instructions said to find the correct change using the fewest bills and coins, and gave four options which read [Tens (#), Fives (#), Ones (#), Quarters (#), Dimes (#), Nickels (#), Pennies (#)] with different amounts for each option. The entire skills assessment took about 45 minutes to an hour.
As I was leaving the cashier told me to call back in a few days and confirm that the manager had received my application. A week later I called and asked for the manager, who told me that I should call back around 8 in the morning to speak to the manager that handled the hiring process.
When I did I spoke to the manager who asked my name and then my phone number, saying he would call in about half an hour. He called back 30-ish minutes later and very politely told me that he had looked over my application and that while right now he was looking for someone who was more available and could work days (I couldn't because of school), he would keep my application and call me if something opened up. I told him that in about a month I would be out of school and able to work days, and he said I should let him know when that changes.
Overall, this being my first job application, it was a very pleasant process. The system was well organized and the people I encountered were very friendly and polite. Though I did not get the job at this time, I hope to possibly work there this summer when I am available.

Interview Question – If you did not like the lunch schedule that the manager had set up, would you:
a) talk to the manager and ask if he could change it.
b) bring a snack to have if you couldn't wait until lunch.
c) talk to your coworkers and see if they also had a problem, and then address the manager together.
d) complain to your coworkers about the issue.
