Interviewed Apr 2012 (took 2 weeks)
Note: Wall Street On Demand has changed its name to Markit On Demand. Based on the reviews of the company from current and past employees, it doesn't seem like a company anyone would want to work for to begin with, and my interview process only further underscored that fact. The process was incredibly unprofessional.
2 weeks before the training program's start date:
- I applied online through their website.
- I was contacted by HR within a couple of days to arrange a 15-min phone interview with a web developer. I did not receive any contact information about the web developer, as that person would call me.
1 week before the training program's start date:
- The phone call did not take place.
- After waiting an hour by the phone, I emailed the HR person, explaining how I didn't receive any phone call, and asked to reschedule for the following day.
- She wrote back with apologies, saying that it was no problem to reschedule the phone call.
- I wrote back asking what time -- NO RESPONSE.
- The next day, after waiting past the same time as the previous day, I wrote to HR again, saying that I never received a confirmation for the rescheduled phone call and had not received any phone call, asking if the positions have been filled -- NO RESPONSE.
The day the training program started:
- I received a generic email from a different HR person, thanking me for my interest in the program and informing me the class was full.
- I wrote back asking if my original HR contact was no longer with the company, as my phone call interview never happened, and I wanted information/resolution.
- This person replied and said that the other HR person was out of the office, and would follow up later.
- NO RESPONSE after that.
I really don't appreciate my time wasted in this manner and don't plan to apply again, for any position.

Interviewed Dec 2011 (took a day)
15 minute phone interview first, by an engineering manager. Consisted of 3 questions: 1) why are you looking/leaving current employer? 2) Describe a time you worked on something hard, a problem that you solved, that you were proud of. 3) What do you think you would bring to our company?
3 hour onsite interview with HR, then skills test, then 2-on-1 interview, facility tour, and 1-on-1 interview. All people I talked with were management, had been with the company 6 to 14 years.
HR wants to know job and salary history, salary requirements.
Technical managers ask questions about resume, what I've worked on lately. Interested in why I'd be leaving current employer, what I'd be looking for.
Skills test had C/C++, SQL, and XPath questions. 30 minutes to complete. I did not complete (interviewers showed up). Questions like: Implement in place string reversal. Implement linked list insert. Given some database tables, show query to list all names having a specific attribute. show query to list all names NOT having some attribute. Given XML snippet, show various XPath representations.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Boulder, CO (took 2 months)
I interviewed at Wall St On Demand in June for a jr to mid level software developer position. The beginning of the interview process went very smooth, was contacted and setup for a phone interview, and a day later they called me back to setup an in-person interview.
I took the time off work to go to Boulder and interviewed with 3 developers. The 3 developers were very kind and the interview itself went very great. They gave me a 3 part test that was to be hand-written.
Here's where things go downhill. After the interview we shake hands and go our separate ways. A week goes by and I have yet to hear anything from WSOD, or even receive an email. I give them a call to see the process of my application, because even if I don't get the job I would at least like to be informed of it. I speak to a lady there and she told me that they were very interested and most likely just going through the paper work necessary. This made me very hopeful and I was very excited.
Another week goes by and I get a call back from WSOD from a different person, and this time he gives me the same speech as the lady before, that they are still interested, and that I'm still in the running but it could be 1-2 more weeks. Fast forward one week, and the same guy calls me back and tells me once again it could be another 1-2 weeks but I'm still a candidate. 3 weeks later and I'm writing this review and I have still yet to hear back from anybody over at WSOD whether or not I received the position. This is very UNPROFESSIONAL way to handle hiring someone.
We are not talking about a CEO position here, this is a low level position that shouldn't require this much paper work. If they were not ready to hire someone within the near future, they should have not posted the job application on the internet. Not only that, but if they aren't ready to hire they should not keep stringing the interviewee along by saying they are interested multiple times instead of just saying "We found out we don't have the resources to hire anybody right now. Our Bad."

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Boulder, CO (took 2 weeks)
I was called in and met with about 8 different Design leads, and finally I met with the Creative Director. I and they asked some questions, I showed them all some work samples, and it was very chit chatty and not very formal. It seemed that they cared a lot about how well we all connected.

Negotiation Details
Straightforward. I asked for a higher salary, they notched it down a little, I accepted. I may have been able to notch it back up slightly.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Boulder, CO (took 1+ week)
Phone interview with technical questions first. Since the job was for C++ developer, mainly C++/STL questions like what's pass by reference, what is iterator of STL classes, etc. And some SQL questions like what's aggregation and how to use cluster index.
A few days after the phone interview, got the request of onsite interview. This is more standard engineer interview, which common questions like "describe your strength and weakness", "why do you want to leave your current job". People were friendly. The workplace looked quite crowed and noisy.

Interviewed May 2010 in Boulder, CO (took a day)
Interview was extremely informal, seemed like they pulled a couple guys at random to talk to me. The technical questions they asked seemed a bit unreasonable for a candidate looking to gain entry into a training program. The entire thing lasted about 15 minutes, as it seemed like they had already chosen the candidates they wished to have and were interviewing me just to get it out of the way. Overall pretty terrible experience.
