Interviewed Dec 2011 in Houston, TX (took 3 days)
It was a hassle just to get in touch with anyone. I stayed on the phone for at least 45 minutes to an hour before anyone picked up and then they would hang up. No one spoke english. I got the run around about a bajillion times until after 7 days + of calling and FINALLY getting an interview date.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Houston, TX (took 2 weeks)
I went in for my first interview with personnel. They asked me basic questions - why do you want to work at Walmart, how much are you looking to make, what is your availability? After that, they passed me on to the zone manager over the cashiers who went into more detailed questions regarding customer service. All of the questions were easy, there were about 5 or 6 of them. After this interview, I waited for almost 45 minutes to meet with an assistant manager who basically asked me the same exact questions as the second manager. I went home, got a call back about 3 days later telling me to come in to accept my job offer. I signed some paperwork and had to take a drug test within 24 hours. It took about a week and a half for them to call after my drug test and I started orientation a week or so later.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Houston, TX (took 3 days)
Interview phone questions were strictly down the line of the WalMart job skills for the position, 12 of them. Face to face interview consisted of a "what if scenario" business plan development and presentation to a panel consisting of the HR person, and 2 Market Managers. 20 minutes to prep and 10 minute presentation. 2 of us were brought in at the same time given same criteria and prep time. Unfortunately the second person to present had an additional 10 mintues (my presentation time) to mentally walk through his more to improve overal presentation. That this gave an advantage to the 2nd one.
Overall, thought the process was very shallow, not much face time to really sell yourself.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Houston, TX (took a day)
I had a one on one interview with both the store manager and the pharmacist. The store manager asked me a series of 5 questions such as, "describe a time in your life when you had to solve a problem on your own. what was the situation, and how did you solve it." The questions weren't difficult to answer, but they all seemed to be the same. I felt like I'd been answering the same questions over and over again so I had to quickly rethink of another similar situation. Anyway, after the interview with the store manager, I was told to come back in 15 minutes for the second interview. I came back and met with the pharmacist and she asked me the same questions that the store manager asked me! She laughed a lot, said she liked my shoes, and then asked if I had any questions and said she'd be giving me a call within the week to tell me whether I have the job or not.

I was initially interviewed by two supervisors, and they asked me basic questions on how I would handle certain customer service situations, invited me back to see a wider panel consisting of 3 Assistant Managers, in which they asked me on my previous job experiences, skills, etc, and then I was invited one last time to discuss my pay rate and finalize my employment after a 24 hr drug test.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Houston, TX (took 3 weeks)
I had applied for walmart and got a call back for an interview. I went into the interview and sat side by side with the interviewer, she asked me a few scenario questions which i answered perfectly. After the interview she turned her head directly away from me and did some type of signal to the other woman sitting in the room. The other woman then stood up and thanked me for coming in and told me that I would recieve a call from the manager in 2 days and that interview is the one that counts. I waited by the phone for 3 days and never recieved a call so i called the hr department and they told me they stopped hiring casheirs but that the man would call me in a week when they were back hiring cashiers. I called back and he was on vacation every time i called. Wal-mart gave me the run around and i was very much lied to.
