Interviewed Jan 2011 (took a day)
My interview went very well. I was asked several questions about how I handled difficult situations with co-workers and a time when I had to show leadership. The interviewer was very nice and complemented me on my answers. A few days later I was given a call and offered a position.

The interview was pretty minimal and they seemed to have relatively common questions about who you were, strengths, weaknesses and how you could benefit the company.

Interviewed Jan 2009 (took 2 days)
Applied using the in-store hiring center. I was called a week later for an appt. for an interview with the dept. manager, they asked me to come back the next day for a second interview this time with an asst. manager. I was hired and orientation started a week later. Orientation was fun, we watched videos played a board game and did lots of CBLs (computer based learning).

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Greenville, TX (took 2 days)
You start out by taking an online personality sorter. Then they call you. You meet the HR associate, get interviewed by an Hourly Supervisor, then by an assistant manager, then the store manager finally made the hiring decision. He was not able to give any credit for this level job. He said there was a curve for more advanced hires. So 7.85 hr.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Waukesha, WI (took 2 days)
Received phone call from Walpmart, setup interview next day (Sunday) for part time job. Was asked about 20 questions, a lot on working with a team, how to handle an angry customer, have you taken short cuts on a job, describe when you wern't able to complete a job or assignment.
Got called back on Monday, came in for 2nd interview with HR person, was told position and salary, but when asked when hours or shift or days to work I was told that information would be given to me at orientation. Given forms for drug test. Did drug test, was called back Thursday to come in for orientation.
Declined job because I was offered different job with no nights and occasional week end days.
People friendly, interview room was a computer server room with three desks. People came in and during the interviews. With the number of people Wal-Mart hires, I would think they would have a better interview location.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took a day)
I applied online. I was orginally schedualed an interview but then it was canceled and reschedualed for a later date. Usually I am extreamly nervous during interviews but the person who interviewed me was very friendly and put me at ease. He is the type of guy who, once all the formalities were over, could probably be joked around with at work. He was a hourly manager.
All of the questions I had were situational based. First he'd read a short paragraph that gave you an indication of what type of answer they were looking for. Then the question would follow.... "Give me an example when...." Some of the questions I remember were "Give me an example of a project you were given to complete. What steps did you take to complete the task." "Give me an example of when a coworker disagreed with you on how something should be done. How did you get him to see your point of view without hurting your feelings?"
I personally hate these types of questions. You could technically make up an answer and they would never know the difference. But if your like me, and try to be truthful, you could rack your brain to try to find a good example where you shine through. It is better to think of examples to possible questions before hand.
