Interviews at WGL
Anonymous Employee in Washington, DC
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at WGL (Washington, DC) in Jan 2013
Competitive interview process. Two phone screens conducted by two separate HR representatives and 1 phone interview directly with the manager. Final rounds were panel style interview with senior management. Questions were a combination of skills and behavioral assessments. An accounting case study was emailed the night before and an Excel comprehension test given on a laptop after the panel interview. Final rounds took 3-4 hours.

Just a series of normal interviews that started with a normal screening phase. Made it to the second round before being told that I wasn't offered the 3rd interview. The whole process took about a month and a half just to get the waiting portion of the third interview.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at WGL in Jan 2022
It was a backfill for a contract to hire for a person who had left. They never told how many rounds there would be. It started with first technical round which was supposed to be 20 mins which went over an hour. Then after several follow up they told there will be a take home assignment and after a few days sent 4-5 links and told to prep a presentation which I did. Then after a week of follow up they told there will be one more technical round. It took abt 30-35 mins. Then again they told one more technical round which again was for 40 mins. Then after a week of follow up they told there will be 2 more rounds of interview that too on site. I lost my patience because they never told what the interview process would be and kept on wasting my time and worst part was every time I had to follow up. So I realized they just wanted to waste my time. No wonder why the person and many others had left earlier. And yes in last round they told this will be hands on development position too !! So they even didn’t know if they needed manager or developer. I am glad that that I never went ahead for their never ending rounds on interview and I am sure the way they conduct the interview is the scenario of how they managed. After wasting a month on interviews there was still not answer and I wish I could have spent that time better. I would stay away from this !

Straightforward panel interview. Focused on reviewing the responsibilities of the open job posting. Went through the day to day workload and processes. Took a tour of the office building and met several other employees.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at WGL (Springfield, VA) in Aug 2015
It was a panel of 4 people, including the hiring manager and 3 other managers with who the incumbent would interact. They seemed to have coordinated to ensure that all panelists (except one) ask questions. They didn't react much to my answers, so I couldn't gauge how well I did or didn't do.

Had a phone screen and interviewed with a panel a week later. Got an offer the next day. Interview lasted about 4 hours with the entire team and was not that difficult. Was mostly behavioral type questions. Other departments to have more technical interviews. it depends on the department and the interviewer.

I applied online and was contacted very quickly by the recruiter that posted the job. Interviews were coming in left and right however, I had to set aside 5 different times. Initially, I had the phone screen and made it clear what my asking salary was and when the recruiter says they don't know the range, they either really don't know or they do and they just want to waste your time. The next call was with the hiring manager, then an in-person with the same hiring manager and a senior team lead, then I had another in-person with more team members (at this point, it was almost as if I was doing free work them considering I had to take time off to go to each of these interviews). Lastly, I had to find a time to hop on a conference call for them to make an offer only to find out it was significantly less than my asking salary in the initial call. My recommendation is to limit this to two interviews max as you are not a Google or AWS. Be considerate of the time that individuals need to take off and also be mindful of the asking salaries so you don't waste anybody's time.
