Very Difficult Interview
I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Wegmans in March 2013.
Interview Details – I got a call from HR about 3 days after filling out application for Overnight Grocery online. I was set up for a phone interview about 4 days later. The phone interview lasted about 30 minutes and I was asked everything under the sun about my previous employers. I was asked what I liked most about previous employers, what I least liked. I thought at one point that I would be asked how many beats per minute did my heart beat. It was horrible and unnecessary to stock groceries on a shelf. It's like they're looking for the perfect person that does not exist. It's a grocery store for god sakes.

Very Easy Interview
I applied in-person and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Wegmans.
Interview Details – I applied and they scheduled an interview. I was asked a few simple questions, nothing at all out of the ordinary or lengthy.
Interview Question – n/a Answer Question
Negotiation Details – they did ask how much I wanted, but I was young and dumb so they just gave me minimum wage lol
Interviewed at Wegmans
Interview Details – Online application for posted position on the website. I fisrt received a call from HR and did 1 on 1 interview which went well. Process is if they have a fit you interview with the department manager again for a 1 on 1 interview. Position is offered after a through background check which takes 1 to 2 weeks and passing a drug test.
Interview Question – What benefits can you get from working with people from differents backgrounds? View Answer
Negotiation Details – Depends on experience.
I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Wegmans in February 2013.
Interview Details – EXTREMELY detailed application process, so be prepared to have 10 years of employment history on hand. I had 3 interviews total. 1 phone, 1 with store manager, 1 with department manager. Just be completely honest with your answers. Don't switch up to suit the interviewer. Very nice and relaxed atmosphere.
Negotiation Details – No negotiation. Was kind of a take it or leave it deal.

Interview Details –
First there is a 10 minute phone interview that goes over your basic info and a few behavioral questions.
Second, there is an interview with an HR person that lasts about 45 minutes. This interview is grueling. They ask about 20 or 25 behavioral interview questions, really asking the same thing over and over, but expecting you to come up with different detailed examples for each one. This interview was ridiculous to become a freaking cashier. I had an interview with a law firm for an internship position, and that interview was actually significantly easier than this one.
Third there is an interview with the department manager or supervisor you will be working for. Pretty easy. They seem to think that the question sheet they get from HR is kinda ridiculous and pointless and they really don't seem to care what your answers are.
Interview Question – Just be prepared for dozens of behavioral questions DETAILING how you worked with a team, resolved problems, dealt with disgruntled people, managed time, etc etc, Answer Question
Reason for Declining – I got an offer, but the interview process rubbed me the wrong way. If they have that ridiculous of an interview process to become a cashier, the company is too uptight and I don't want to work for them. Stay far, far away from this company if you have a laid back personality. Type As only need apply.
I applied online and the process took 5 weeks - interviewed at Wegmans.
Interview Details – I've had a total of 4 interviews, the first being a phone interview. The questions they ask are the same as any other jobs but because it's wegmans and they are really picky about who they hire, you really have to think about what you say. They interviewers were really nice but the only problem I didnt like was that I initially applied for a position in the bakery and after the second interview, they were asking me questions regarding the cashier position. They had already filled the positions for the bakeries but they didn't tell me that and when I told the last interviewer (Alexis from wegmans buffalo, ny) it seemed like she didnt care and went on with the interview anyway.
Interview Question – All the questions were basically the same as any other job like I said before Answer Question
I applied through other source and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Wegmans in December 2012.
Interview Details – This was an internal process as I already was employed with the company. It was a very detailed interview with lots of scenarios concerning employee situations, as well as customer situations. Be prepared to talk about situations that you have encountered in past work experience that you would consider a difficult situation to overcome.
Interview Question – What are some things you need to improve on? Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Wegmans.
Interview Details – Relaxed. Brief. No hard questions. No references needed.
Interview Question – None. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No negotiation.
I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Wegmans in November 2012.
Interview Details –
Simple phone interview not long after submitting the online form. Basic questions, but the person interviewing was horribly unprepared.
I was called for an in-person interview six weeks after that. Again, same questions as on the phone, with one or two extras thrown in. Both interviewers were late, rushed and distracted the whole time. Not fun.
Interview Question – Do you think people should be paid all the same or based on their own merit? Answer Question
Negotiation Details – Please, please, please don't let them only pay you $10/hr. I found out afterwards everyone I work with makes $12/hr+ doing the same job.

Interview Details –
Already in Team Lead position so this was a latteral move interview. Not as involved as the initial interview. Held in HR office with two interviewers. Already knew both interviewers so I wasn't overly nervous.
It seems that with all interviews I have had with the company (3) that its more important of how you answer the questions and not so much the answer that you give.
This place askes you very difficult questions, after all its a food market not the White House.
Interview Question – What kind of knife would I use when preparing food? Not difficult just...unexpected Answer Question
Negotiation Details – Initially had availability set at Monday-Saturday 24 hour availability with no availability on Sundays. Would not be offered job unless I was available 24-7!
Pros: “Amazingly flexible on the schedule, 2 week schedules, great benefits for full timers, management actually cares about you and will work with you if there is problems at work, pay is good, family atmosphere where everyone is friends, the store operations are very well executed and the organization…” – Full Review
