Interviewed Feb 2010 in Palm Beach, FL (took 1 week)
I applied online and after completing the online application I was redirected to a personality type of test. The test gave different situations and I had to choose which one I was most likely to do. Then a few days later I got another email saying I was chosen to attend a group interview. Before I could respond to the email confirming my attendance I got a call from the Hiring Manager who was calling to check if I will be attending.
This was the first group interview I had ever gone to. This interview was done by the recruiting team. There were about 5 other candidates. They first spoke about the company and then asked us each the same interview question. "Tell us about your biggest up sell/cross-sale". You need to answer the question using the STAR format. Since everyone answers the same question it gives you a lot of time to think of a good answer. They only ask one interview question so make your answer good! Then they let you leave. They tell you that they will email you the next day if they decide to go on with other candidates but if they choose to interview you 1:1 they will email you in a few days (which gives them time to figure out what store you will interview at.)
I received a call several hours after my group interview asking if I would be interested in going to a 1:1 interview with the branch manager of the store I would be working at. The interview was set up for the following day. At the interview they ask you more STAR questions:
1. "What was your greatest customer service accomplishment?"
2. "Tell about any awards/recommendations you have received"
3. "Explain what you would do if a customer comes to you anger, saying he made a deposit yesterday and has the receipt to prove it but the transaction is not showing in his account"
4. "Explain a time a customer was upset and you calmed them down and came up with a solution. Did they leave happy?"
5. "Why do you want to work with Wachovia, why would you be a good fit" (This is not answered in the STAR format)
** Make sure you prepare for your STAR interview. Compile a list of situations that you used your customer service skills, so that it will be easy to provide a good answer to the questions asked.
After the interview I was told they were going to run my background and I should hear back in a week from the recruiters about whether I got the position or not. I received the call a week later and got the position. In two weeks I start for their 9 day training program!!
***It is very important that you dress really professional for the interview!!! This is a MUST!
