Interviewed Jan 2012 in Phoenix, AZ (took 2 weeks)
I applied on line at Wellsfargo.com, for the teller position. Immediately after applying I was asked to call a 1800 number to speak to a recruiter. I then did a quick phone interview (basic interview question) About 3 days later I was contacted by another recruiter to set up an appointment for a group interview. I went in today 01/19/2012. There were 12 people total sitting in a largo conference room (one which was the recruiter). 3 of the people ended up leaving after the recruiter stated training was mandatory. She had us fill out a quick form with our personal info, and hours available. We watched a short video about 5 minutes long, talking about Wells Fargo's mission and expectations. The interviewer then passed out some blank paper to each of us and had us write down what she wanted included in our introduction, Including
OUR NAME
CURRENT OR MOST RECENT POSITION
THE NAME OF THE COMPANY YOU WORK/WORKED FOR
WHY YOU LEFT OF PLAN ON LEAVING YOUR PAST/CURRENT JOB
WHY YOU WANT THE TELLER POSITION
WHY WELLS FARGO
AND WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME
She then asked for volunteers to go ahead and introduce themselves. After the first person went, she went around the room following after the first person. She then had three in depth questions, all in which we had time to write down.
1st question was: Explain a situation when you made a sale.
What action did you take?
What was the outcome?
What did you learn from it?
2nd question: Explain a time you had to go above and beyond for a customer
What action did you take?
What was the outcome?
What did you learn from it?
3rd question: Explain a time you met a goal
What action did you take?
What was the outcome?
What did you learn from it?
And that was it. These are the exact question that were asked. So be prepared. After that she let everyone know we would either be contacted within 2 weeks for a third interview with a branch manager. If not they would send an email notifying you that they did not believe you were the right fit for the position. We were then dismissed. She then walked us out. The end.
I wish everyone luck at their interview. I hope my post will be helpful in some way. I tried including as much detail as possible. I know it can be nerve racking not knowing what to expect, especially when you hear "group interview"". I had been nervous for the last week, not knowing what to expect. But I assure you, if your interview goes anything like mine. You will be fine. I honestly think group interviews are a lot better, it gives you plenty of time to come up with your answer. Again Good luck to all.

They claimed they needed contact software engineers on a contract basis, but after 18 months is was a mandatory layoff folowed by a 6 month waiting period. The pay rate was below average for software contract engineer. The panel interview was disorganized and all they asked were a series of closed-ended questions about C++ and general random software concepts such as multithreading. If you memorize a C++ book and buzzwords in job description, you might pass the interview. If one of your answers doesnt exactly fit what they are thinking, you fail the interview. If this is how Wells Fargo treats software developers, I am glad I got turned down for the job and not working at Wells Fargo.
But my best advice to pass the interviews there are memoize a good C++ book well before the interview, and brush up on your computer science fundamentals or whatever buzzwords are in job description. Be prepared for answering "closed ended" memorization questions.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took a day)
I was contacted via email by the hiring manager in Charlotte NC to set up an interview appointment by phone. The interview was one on one, and lasted 70 minutes. The interviewer had a set of 8 behavioral questions that she said were being asked of all interviewees. The questions were "how did you handle such and such situation in the past, and how did that work out?" I prepared for the interview by looking on the internet for the most common interview questions, printing those out, and writing responses for them. It was very effective, because some of those same questions were asked by the interviewer.
My perception of this department and its manager was that they were very professional, organized, and were in a strong growth mode.

I applied online they send you an email telling you to call a recruiter. They ask you a few questions about previous jobs. They tell you they will call when open appointment become available. They call some time after ( days, weeks etc. ) set up interview. I had an over the phone interview(6/28) than she told me I made it to the next interview, set up an over the phone interview with the branch managers(7/1). I had to do it over the phone b.c I lived in another state. They told me I would recieve a call/ email in the next week if I got the job. Next day they called and offered me the job pending my background. Cleared on (7/5) Start training soon.

Organization is not a strong point for the audit department as far as their interviewing process. They should include HR in the process to make things smooth and to also provide a status on their interview process. Instead months go by and when following up only then will they let you know you have to interview again after already having a phone interview and an in-person panel interview. Then after the third interview never getting back to about your status. It is just rude and unprofessional.

It is a pretty long process to get hired as a PB at Wells, especially for an external candidate; they are very big on promoting from within, so you are competing with tellers who are already with the company. Initially you go through a phone screening, then a group interview. Following that, you will have another group interview with your district where you will give a sales presentation. If you do well enough during that, you have a 1 on 1 with the manager. I did well enough, and received an offer the day after that.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took 4 weeks)
I applied online at the end of December, and had a brief phone interview after an online screening process. The recruiter I spoke with on the phone set me up with a group interview, where I did well, and advanced to the second group interview they held for the specific branches that were hiring in my area. I thought that it had gone well, but after a week of not hearing anything, I contacted one of my friends that worked at Wells Fargo to see how long it usually took to hear back. She said it was abnormal to not get a phone call for a one on one interview or offer, or an email to say that I had not be selected. She contacted the regional recruiter who also did not know why I had not been contacted, sent out emails to all the hiring branches inquiring about my application. Two weeks after the second interview I received a call from the recruiter stating that I had not been selected. Not getting the job wasn't nearly as bad as the waiting and knowing something had gone wrong with my paperwork. It's a huge disappointment not to know whether I didn't get the job because I wasn't qualified, or because of some sort of miscommunication on their part.
