Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL – Reviewed Nov 15, 2012
Interview Details – The interview process was fairly painless. I met with the Midwest Director as well as an Account Manager. There was one in-person interview and I had to return a week later to take a skills assessment test, which was composed mostly of a typing test and media math questions. The offer was extended quickly.
Interview Question – Questions were all very basic. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation as this was an entry-level position.
No Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY Jul 2009 – Reviewed Aug 2, 2009
Interview Details – First I had a phone interview, then I was asked to come in for a face to face. I met with the HR contact who told me the job would be supporting the EIC and associate publisher. I had done my research and knew about the recent shakeup and turnover of the executives because the parent company was being cheap with the salaries. The HR Manager of course never addressed the issue and didn't really know much about the day to day duties of the position except that the former assistant was trying to break into the business and not really interested in being the assistant and they currently had an intern move into the role but she wasn't working out either. She then gave me the most random skills test I've evern taking in my 15 year career. I was told she would be grading the tests of all the applicants (which from looking at her stack of papers seemed like more than 20) and if I passed I would be called back to meet with the 2 direct reports. I didn't get a good feel for the company so I purposely didn't send a thank you letter because I'm not really interested.
Interview Question – None. Interviewer seemed very uninterested and robotic. Answer Question
